Trinity college A1 tests are very easy and available in most places.

http://www.trinitycollege.co.uk/site/?id=2094

It costs about £80 and takes less than 10 minutes (which is robbery of course).

This was the one we chose for my wife.

Also check if the point based calculator recognizes the course your wife has graduated from. She might be exempt if it does.

@Shahshah,

Only 4 years bachelors degrees or above(if taught in English) can get exemption from UK NARIC.

UK NARIC, is another rip off department.

1) First you have to pay to have it said, that your degree is equivalent to UK's ordinary bachelors degree.
2) Again you have to pay to have it said on UK NARIC's letter headed paper that the same degree meets the English Language requirement at level C1, or B1.

I have been stung by UK NARIC twice.

I do not know if this is still needed but here is the guidance;
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... icants.pdf

In this guidance, the page 9 includes the following;

"How can I check if my degree/PhD meets the criteria for the English language requirement before I make an application?"

Apparently you can evade NARIC, and any other certification which will cost you a very undeserved sum of money, if your qualification exists as a "thought in English" category in the point based calculator. If it does, you can just submit the qualification as evidence and avoid paying fees and unnecessarily stressing your misses.

Can one work full time whilst awaiting decision on ILR. I had a student visa before I applied. If one does work full time then what happens?

No. Until your ILR is decided, your previous visa conditions apply.

What happens is you would be violating the holly immigration rules, and your life becomes like hell if you get caught.

(Note: this issue has been clarified later by Damanisshallo as follows;

Source:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... onditions/

Quote:
You can work full-time during vacations, within the above limits. If you have completed your course and you apply to remain in the UK under the points-based system before your existing permission to stay expires, you can work full-time (within the above limits) until your application is decided.)

Except placement as a doctor in training, you can do pretty much every thing while on PSW or when waiting decision on ILR where visa condition carries as PSW.

@Specy_99,

Totally Agree with Ged.

You can't even get a full time job now a days without confirmed status and right to work in the U.K.

@specy_99,

Conditions of student visa(tier 4), clearly states you can not work full time, but can work full time only in holidays.

Unless decision is made on your ILR application these conditions will carry over. No ifs or buts. Rules are quite clear on this.

UKBA does random checks and raids, if u get caught working full time, your whole ten years spent will be useless because of being little impatience.

Keep faith.

Don't give up. Give them this and ask them to check themselves may be they could offer you 20 hrs to start with.

Hey,
Actually, you can work full time if you applied for ILR if your most recent visa was a student visa. If you have successfully completed the course your visa was granted for and you applied for ILR before your most recent visa expired, then you are allowed to work full-time. I, myself, am in the same situation, and called the Home Office who referred me to the Department of Work and Pensions. The DoWP can confirm your individual right to work if you are unsure.
I cannot remember what their telephone number is, but I am sure if you look it up and give them a ring you can find out for yourself.

Best of luck.

1. As suggested by others attempt at post office with printed letter.
2. At PEO with printed letter explain the situation and post office refusal.
3. Call HO and request for another copy posted to your address or preferably by email.
4. Email is accepted by PEO.

My bio was also lost and I was in impression it was never issued. But they send a duplicate copy to me when I requested. Yes they do say 15 days otherwise application to be invalid, but in my case duplicate copy is issued after more than a month. So aware them of your situation ASAP.

Thanks,
Aksi

Hi,

I wondering what month/date are currently being processed? I applied on 22 June and it's coming onto 6 months now with final decision pending. I'm not sure if I should reach out to my local MP to help chase up.

Thanks
