I'm so happy that my passport is in the post and on its way. However can I ask how good is the tracking for the an post service. Currently all I have (and have had for the last 4 days) is that it has left Dublin post centre. I would expect it to say something like received at air mail centre but I haven't seen this. Does anyone know how long it takes approximately to get to the UK?

My timeline is as follows (from UK)
Online application 28/03/23
Docs received/processing application (verifying docs) 07/04/23
Processing application 21/04/23
Printing/ dispatched passbook 16/05/23
Printing card 16/05/23
Dispatched card 17/05/23
Received passbook (Wales) 19/06/23
Received card pending
Estimated issue date 09/05/23

Online tracking worked really well for my passbook, updated at every stage. My photo card has the same tracking info as yours, left Dublin mail centre 19/05, not received yet. Ordinarily your tracking will update as follows. Left dublin mail centre, received in Great Britain, post is with delivery partner in Great Britain, We delivered your post in Great Britain. My understanding is that some people received their passports without tracking fully updating.

Just received my photocard in the last hour so that's everything now, tracking was not updated for that. I'm sure you'll receive yours soon if you haven't already! Best of luck

I just used the same tracking number on Royal Mail to see if there was anything on there and sure enough I can now see the passport has arrived in Heathrow this morning so hopefully it will make its way to me soon but hopefully it will help others if they are waiting on their updates in the UK to look at the royal mail website with the same tracking code

My original documents (including my US passport which I sent) arrived yesterday. So just to add another datapoint for anyone following it took 17 days to receive original documents back after my Ireland passport was printed and dispatched.

Now the whole process is officially done done. Fewww, what a journey. Hang in there all!

Does anyone know if anything gets done on the weekend? Do I need to keep checking the status or is Friday night the last check and then Monday? Thanks! (My expected date is May 18).

Thats funny...I had to submit more documents and it is still in processing application (expected date 06 June) but they have already returned my documents....watching intently for it to change to printing

Anyone notice the tracking system doesn't work for them?

When I search for my tracking code it now just hangs and doesn't show any tracking.

A few days ago was showing tracking was due to be done by 8th June original estimated date.

Hi all,

I join you from the FBR thread.

Applied online: 24/04/2023
Sent documents (from UK, Royal Mail): 25/04/2023
Documents arrived (according to Royal Mail): 03/05/2023
Documents received (according to DFA): 03/05/2023
Estimated issue date: 31/05/2023

Slightly concerned that I sent certified copies of my FBR and driving licence. Did not send copy of my passport. I remember the application had conflicting suggestions about this. If I’m not mistaken someone on here had a successful application with certified copies of FBR and driving licence.
I have submitted the same documents as you did (the idea of sending my original British passport sounded dodgy to me). I don't suppose your application has progressed far enough to know that these documents were sufficient? My witness is a teacher who breaks up for the school summer holiday soon so if they ask for any extra documents I'm probably screwed until September when the next school year starts because they need to call her at work.

Hello, unfortunately not. My estimated date was 31/05/2023, and I’m still in the processing stage, but it should be imminent judging from other timelines. I’ll update you when I hear anything.

Same. I will say though, in the FBR thread, that someone recently get rejected for a passport using Post Office document certification. Did you use a solicitor or notary public for your FBR copy? If so I imagine you should be fine.

Oh sorry I just realised I misread your original comment, I actually sent my original FBR cert. It was just a copy of my driving license rather than my original passport which I sent. I had this certified by my witness in the same way I did for my FBR application.

I sent the original FBR certificate, and a photocopy of passport and driving license certified by my witness who was one of the professions. The checklist says this is finez so I think you will be ok.

I agree on the post office thing , it doesn't say post office can witness, you need to find solicitor, dentist, doctor etc to sign the witness form and photocopies. I think the FBR certificate is a grey area as I've seen it references a solicitor needs to sign it, so I took the risk and sent mine.

I'm on 4 weeks since verifying documents so fingers crossed should be done in a couple of weeks.

Also the tracking system is working again, if anyone else had troubles

Still waiting on mine. Deets:

The estimated* issue date for your Passport Book is: 29/05/2023

Your application is being processed
Today 09/06/2023

-

We have received your supporting documents. We are now verifying these documents.
1 month 1 week 5 days ago
28/04/2023

-

We have received your application. You must submit your supporting documents to proceed with the application.
3 months 6 days ago
05/03/2023

-

I posted off my UK passport so it's a bit irritating that there's no realistic update. AFAIK my witness hasn't been called yet. I would like to have the option of going abroad soon!

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Hi, just thought I'd add my timeline for others to see as my Passport has now been dispatched.

Online application : 17/04/2023
Docs received/processing application :(verifying docs) 02/05/2023
Processing application : 11/05/2023
Printing/ dispatched passbook : 09/06/2023
Printing card : 09/06/2023
Dispatched card : Pending
Received passbook : Pending
Received card : Pending

Estimated issue date 30/05/2023

So it does indeed seem that they are running about a week behind right now.

I did also see some discussion of Notary Publics witnessing documents somewhere. I used a Notary Public and she also said she couldn't sign it as it was, as she didn't know me personally. Her solution was to add a * and add a note underneath stating something like "*Known to me from producing identification in the form of a Passport, Drivers License and Proof of Address). They were apparently happy with this.

I provided my real FBR Certificate alongside notarised copies of my drivers license and UK passport. Alongside the other things they asked for of course (proofs of address from bank statement and utility company etc).

Hope the information is helpful to someone!.

Thanks ParsleyGreens, that is helpful. My estimated due date was 31/05/2023 (day after yours) and still in processing. I guess mine will be early next week. I’m going on holiday at the end of June and I’m very grateful I chose not to send in my passport. 😅

Same, so I contacted them on the webchat, they basically said nothing is outstanding we're experiencing delays blah blah

Then mysteriously an hour later I get an e-mail saying I need to supply my long form birth certificate.

Which I already supplied in the original application. So will be contacting them tomorrow. Sigh. Posting that will probably mean another 6 weeks + the time for them to receive it.

Oh no. Hope you get that sorted.

To add to the misery my witness told me today he’s working from home all this week, so when they ring his office he won’t be there. So that’s probably another week for me. Good times!

Thanks for all the updates and hope you receive your passports very soon. My expected issue date was 06/06/23 and still in processing.

I’ve contacted the webchat and can confirm they know no more than us - no timelines given or length of delay.

Expected issue date 08/06 here, also stuck on processing.

I'm guessing there has been a surge of applications before the summer holidays. Probably be 2 weeks longer than it was a month or so ago.

Will update when it dispatched or moves along.
