The lady was really disappointed with the way that Home Office changed the regulation and did not brief them about anything. She said it used to be really straight forward, now it got so complicated. Basically she was not happy.

And also she had no idea on the Factsheet that HO sends to people who email them regarding the applications and she thanked me that I brought a copy for her.

She did not question anything but it seemed like she does not know much about the PBS at all.

well, she accepted everything and thanked one more time that I have been extremely useful eg the extra information etc.

Now I am only hoping the dudes in HO would know things more than the NCS dude and don't confuse themselves on my application.

Good luck guys!

Dear Raj,

Thank you for your e-mail.

The answer to your question can be found at section 6 of the attached factsheet.

I hope this helps.

Jane Whitehead
And Section 6 states as below
6. How do I show that my qualification is deemed by UK NARIC to be the recognised standard?
UK NARIC regularly update the online points based calculator (which is on our website) with information about various degrees. If you obtained a degree overseas and were awarded ten points for English language skill, you can submit evidence from the online points calculator, together with the original degree certificate, to demonstrate that you can satisfy the English language element of the Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK (KOLL) requirement.
Alternatively, you can obtain confirmation from UK NARIC that your qualification was taught or researched in English by requesting an English Language Assessment (ELA). Details of how to contact UK NARIC can be found at: http://ecctis.co.uk/naric/Contact%20Us.aspx
All the very best bcan13.. Keep us posted, how NCS treats this evidence.

Do you mind sending it to my email? It would be great to bring it with to the NCS. I will PM you now!
Thanks
I have emailed you the factsheet.

Just spoke to NARIC and they said my degree should be returning points on the online calculator as it's a top tier recognized institution and that I need to speak to someone from the HO as the problem is most likely at their end. Gmpf. Just emailed them but probably be lucky if they reply at all...

That's kind of good news. I would rather apply to NARIC and get the confirmation letter from them ans apply with that. Would not wait for HOs response.

Anyone else here applied with HSMP before Feb 2008 and got a degree certified with NARIC for a bachelor's degree but now the points calculator is not recognizing ?

Points calculator is not accepting dates before feb 2008 and I reckon this is affecting the points calculator ? There was some time where tier 1 taking a masters degree to get the points. Anybody have similar issues?

I am in the same boat as yours...

It keeps on saying "You must enter a date in the past on or after 29 February 2008."

Any inputs anyone ?

I've never had this problem with the calculator. But whether I enter 2002 or 2012 the points stay 0 and as I said earlier NARIC says it should be awarding points for my course. I have faxed over all my papers to them and should hoepfully be having confirmation that my degree meets the English requirement this week.

Are you using this calculator and selecting Tier 2 (General)?

I've tried both Tier 1 and Tier 2, with various dates, still giving me 0.

I wanted to use just the screenshot proof without having to send another certification with fees to Naric...

https://www.points.homeoffice.gov.uk/gu ... R_502_HELP

The above link is "help" for "Enter the date of your first successful Tier 1 application" question.

As per this, if you applied for HSMP before 29 Feb 2008, then enter your first successful tier1 application date as 29 Feb 2008.

I did this way and my bachelor degree obtained out of UK is recognized and the PBS calc gives me 10 points. I hope this is enough to meet the KOL requirement.

Hope it helps.

Cheers

Thanks! It is recognizing my degree now.

I was previously only selecting "Bachelor's Degree" instead of "Bachelor's Degree from Center of Excellence or Prestigious University".

COOL! This has worked for me too! I now get the 30 points for my degree which I received in 2007 when applying for HSMP. I assume this printout showing 30 points would be enough for KOLL together with my degree certificate?

*** UPDATE ***
Just noticed the Language Skills section a bit later and here my degree again scores 0 points :?

Oh well, back to NARIC!

Who can use PBS online print to demonstrate KOLL?

Post by forbc123 » Tue Dec 03, 2013 8:14 pm

Hi Guyz,

I'm following this thread very closely and I'm in a situation where my wife need to apply for BC as my spouse (3 year rule) but confused a bit and my confusion is around who can use PBS

My wife entered UK in 2007 as WP Dependent, and then became Tier 2 Dependent eventually and then ILR in 2011

As a dependent, she never needed to demonstrate her qualification for visa or WP extensions (as far as I know)

Now question is, her University and her Engineering Degree is listed in UKBA site and she is qualifying to get 10 points, she has her university degree certificate and letter from university stating her medium of instruction was in English, will HO accepts dependents to use PBS, I though only people who came as main PBS Tier 2 can do that?

any one got such questions?

referring to link below

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... hip/kol-uk

If you already have a qualification at B1 level
Applicants who already have an English language qualification at B1 level or above will not be
required to take another one. For example, someone who demonstrated a knowledge of English
equivalent to B1 level when applying for entry clearance will not be required to take a further test in
order to qualify settlement

I am exactly in the same boat as you, However what I have discovered is that the issue of Dependant no longer applies considering she's already arquired ILR and only applying based on residency. As long as her University is on the list and their Degree also, it makes no difference if she was original PBS applicant or not.

I stand corrected.

Hi tier_2_applicant

Could you kindly suggest how long did they [home_office] take to respond to your email?

SettlementOpsPolicy@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
nationalitypolicyteam.liverpool@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
KnowledgeOfLifePolicyQueries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
ukbanationalityenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk

I have got an appointment for my Naturalization application with Croydon council on next week and that lady is not sure whether I need to appear for any other English Test or not. Even though I have got Life in UK certificate, certificate from NARIC [issued in 2008] and also my education is available on PBS system. I was asked to contact UKBA before applying for Naturalization and get the confirmation.

If they get back in few days time then I am safe, otherwise I need to go to HO and meet any Immigration Officer.

Thanks in advance,
Bhaskar Roy

got reply from HO

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your e mail. I can confirm that evidence from the PBS calculator can be submitted, together with the original degree certificate, to show that the applicant has met the English language element of the KOLL.

Please see attached fact sheet (sections 5 and 6), which you will find useful.

Regards

Ann

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
my email to HO regarding my wife on meeting KOLL requirement

a. Is my understanding correct that if points based calculator is awarding her 10 points (because her University & Degree is listed on calculator) then she doesn't need to provide

Statement of comparability from UK NARIC? or English Letter from NARIC?

b. She also has a letter from her University stating that all degrees including her's are only taught in English as medium of instruction, would this suffice?

c. She also has Life in the UK certificate

Hello,

I also have a doubt about English Language requirement. My bachelor degree (B.com from Mumbai University) is listed on PBS and awarded 30 points for it but when it comes to English language requirmrnts, its giving me below choices

I am a national from a majority English speaking country
I have a qualification comparable to a UK Bachelor degree that was taught in English
I have passed an approved English language test
I have already proven my English language skills in a previous Tier 1 or HSMP application
I do not want to claim points for English language skills (your application will be refused, unless your assessment refers to a settlement application - see Help below)

.....So do i need to select "I have a qualification comparable to a UK Bachelor degree that was taught in English " and then see for 10 points or it should show directly that i have earned 10 point for Language?

Do i need comparability letter from NARIC ?

I have original degree certificates, Letter from university that this course was taught in English.

Please advise.

Thanks.
