Quick question.

My wife (British citizen) and I (non-eea national) entered the UK in August 2014 with a family permit via the surrinder singh route.

We entered from the Netherlends after spending about 9 months there. In the time we were there my wife was self-employed.

My question is this, do we have to provide the proof of self-employment again when we complete the PR application? What if someone was to lose there paperwork after 5 years of continuous residence in the UK?
Yes, my understanding is you do need that evidence.

See PR guidance, page 10+

It would prove very challenging to make the case for confirmation of PR if vital supporting evidence is missing.

Rule 1 of UK immigration is keep everything - for ever. Period. Oh and keep scans/copies of everything too.

Wouldnt they take into consideration that all these documents have been provided to them when the family permit was applied for?

Is it possible to apply for British Citizenship directly bypassing the eea4?

The evidence is asked for in the current PR guidance. Ofcourse evidence of the FP (and any subsequent RC) will help too.

And no, DCPR cannot be bypassed;
this optional confirmatory document is now one mandatory prerequisite for the privilege of citizenship (for Union citizens and family members).

eea2 on A4 to resident card

Post by confusedinpakistan » Sun Nov 27, 2016 8:17 pm

Hi Guys,

I have been in the Uk since 09/2014.

I was issued with a eea2 on a4 paper, the paper has become a bit ripped and I know that I need to apply all over again to get a resident card now.

I wanted to know, is it safe to currently do so? I understand that the regulations have changed this friday?

My details:
  • My wife (BC) and I (non-eea national) moved to the Netherlands from Pakistan.
We lived there about 8 months
    Been married about 10 years
    Have 2 kids
Wife ran her own company in the Netherlands
Moved to the UK and got the eea2.
Been here now for over 2 years
Im concerned about these new regulations and if I should take a chance or not, any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank YOu

I don't see you encountering problems with the new regulations as you appear to be covered by the old one.

Thanks for the quick reply Obie.

I can sleep at ease now. Though it seems that this is a never ending headache for me!

Does lost/damaged eea2 reset the clock

Post by confusedinpakistan » Mon Apr 10, 2017 9:19 am

I want to get my eea2 transferred from an a4 sheet to a BRP. (a4 sheet has ripped a bit)

I have been here since 2014, and should be eligible for PR in 2019.

What I wanted to know is if I get a new eea2 by reapplying does that mean my 5 year point would start over, or would it still be from when I first entered in 2014? Any info on this would be very helpful guys.

EEA residence documents just confirms you rights. So, a new documents wouldn't restart your qualifying period for PR.
