Spouse of Irish National Stamp 4 Application - Help!

Hi all

I'm an Indian national on a stamp 1G that is expiring soon and have been living in Ireland for the last 3 years. I recently married my Irish partner.

Would I be able to switch to a Stamp 4 immediately if we just show up at the GNIB office with our passports, marriage certificate and residence proof?

That's what it says on the Government website but many people here have faced problems when doing so.

I'm non/eu visa required .
Today I get Irish D visa long stay(join Irish spouse),
We will travel to Ireland in coming weeks.
I have some questions & I hope someone can help me.
1.what kind of stamp I will be giving on my arrival to Ireland?
I heard some spouse of Irish said that they have difficulty to get stamp 4.and they have to wait long.
2.haw long I will be waiting to get stamp 4 if I enter to the state on D visa (join Irish spouse)?
