NCS or Postal: Through solicitor (nothing special with my case but just for peace of mind)
Date of submission: 25 June 2010
CRITERIA - 5 years WP + 1 Year ILR
Date of credit card payment deduction: 5 July 2010
Date of receipt of acknowledgment letter: 7 July 2010 dated 01/07/10
Date UKBA made decision: 22 July 2010
Date of receipt of approval: 28 July 2010
Date of ceremony - 16/08/10 (public ceremony as no private ceremony available before that date)
Date of Passport application - 17/08/2010 (C&S)
Date of Interview letter receipt - 21/07/2010
Date of receipt of supporting documents - 26/08/2010 (second attempt)
Date of Passport interview - 27/08/2010
Date of receipt of passport - 08/09/2010 (second attempt, first attempt 1 Sept 2010)

My interview was very annoying. The questions were simple enough like the ones posted here, but the interviewer's attitude annoyed me. It was as if he was trying to make me answer wrongly! Sometimes he would repeat the question, even after I answered (I guess to make sure I won't buckle under perssure). They tried to deliver the passport 4 days after my interview, but I was not home. The next available date that worked for me was today.

Thank so much to all who have contributed advice and guidance, especially the tireless moderators of this forum.

Best of luck to everyone still in the process!

I called the passport office today to check my application.
the lady asked me barcode number and then application number. after checking she told me: this application is not in the system try calling friday.
Is this normal ?
Is it possible for the post office to lost my application with all the original documents ?

Hi,

They replied in an hour. I sent the email at 1730 and they replied at 1830. I called them just after 1700 and lady who answered the phone wasnt very helpful. I asked her to check the progress and she said it wouldnt even be on the system without taking my tracking number so iwas very suprised to get a reply so quick.

Don't worry - that's normal. It does not mean your application is lost. Just that it is waiting to be processed. You will be in the system once the application is processed, your documents are sent back to you, a reference number for interview is generated and a letter is sent out to you. This can take upto 10 days from the timelines people publish here.

I applied on 01/09 and was told early this week that I'm not in the system. Called yesterday again (08/09) and was told my application was processed on the 07/09 and a letter was sent out on the 08/09.

He asked me when I opened my latest bank account and I told him I could not remember and he said that was fine.

END OF PROCESS!!!!!!!!!
====================
I would like to thank everyone for their advice and guidance through the years; saved me loads in time and effort in obtaining credible information on the whole process and procedure even though mine was quite a straight forward application.

Hope this helps anyone still waiting to complete the process of becoming a British Citizen and I would advise to always observe and show respect for the rights and freedom of the United Kingdom, observing its laws and fulfill your duties and obligations as a resident.

This is not a destination but a journey!!!

Thanks to all once again!!!! :D :D :D

Hi imsylar,

Interview went quite well. Interviewer was very friendly and all finished about 15 minutes. I went to Reading Office this morning. My appointment was at 9.15. I arrived at 9.00 and was called at 9.05. Questions were exactly the same as what the other members said in earlier posts. I was told that i wouldnt get the passport on the same day as they need to do more checks but should receive it within 4 to 5 days in normal cases. Lets hope it will arrive by next Friday
