In theory you shouldn't have to provide any more paperwork! My wife got her approval letter on 20 February. However, she has still not received her permit. We got our MP involved last week and found out yesterday that "The UKBA were carrying out some sort of investigation". This was completed last Friday (1st March). Later, someone from the MP's office telephoned to say that the BRP has now been produced. The BRPs are apparently produced at the DVLA (presumably in Swansea). I sent an email to DX Group today and they have confirmed they have a package to deliver to my wife between 9am & 5pm today.sh1981 wrote:hiya all, i got a letter today saying ILR has been approved. didnt get no brp yet and well, the visa vignette sticker on it was same as on spouse visa. i guess brp is now the new 'visa' sticker? hoping to receive it in 10 days i believe.

Incidentally, the permit is no longer a vignette in the passport, but is actually like an I.D. card (credit card size) so far as I know. From other comments I have seen, it is valid for 10 years now and has to be renewed. No idea what that process is though. Not sure if anyone else will know that yet either.
Baxx wrote:Captainfantastic, that's a great news, you may be receiving it as I type!
As for the plastic card, because it has not been around for a while yet, nobody yet had to renew it. The process, the fee etc. has yet to be decided. UKBA may not decide it for next 9 years!
However, I am sure there will be a few people who misplace cards in near future they will come up with clear guideline and set fees for renewal process. I have been told, though, that it is simply renewal of the photo card, rather than reapplying for visa/residency, much like renewing driving license every 10 yrs, which is like £20 at the moment.

no one would need to renew it as in that time you're eligible for naturalisation.Baxx wrote:

odd!Baxx wrote:Some (many I know) people don't opt for that route ;p
Not every one is allowed double nationality, and not everyone wants to be Brit.
(I, myself, won't naturalize till my folks are not with us. Will be longer than 10 yrs from now.)
