Wow that was quick we applied at a similiar time to you, my mother in law has been sick and we sent various letters to expedite but heard nothing.

some hope that maybe it will finally come through soon.

That's your call.

I'd be reluctant to give such info, especially when my application is pending...

But, I don't think they are interested in my story as it's not interesting enough, so my info will not be disposed, is my feeling.

If they really do make this happen, then the petition will have to have real names and other info to be genuine.

Let's say it is all political, and UKBA chief executive Rob Whiteman is not a big fan of criticism coming from people who are yet to settle in UK or to become British citizens,

all he has to do (for example) is to deport them, so their barking of complaints will less likely to be heard....

That's certainly a possibility and I think majority of applicants would consider waiting till their applications were successful.

I've signed up, too, but that's only I've exhausted my patience after waiting for 7 months.

In theory you shouldn't have to provide any more paperwork! My wife got her approval letter on 20 February. However, she has still not received her permit. We got our MP involved last week and found out yesterday that "The UKBA were carrying out some sort of investigation". This was completed last Friday (1st March). Later, someone from the MP's office telephoned to say that the BRP has now been produced. The BRPs are apparently produced at the DVLA (presumably in Swansea). I sent an email to DX Group today and they have confirmed they have a package to deliver to my wife between 9am & 5pm today.

Incidentally, the permit is no longer a vignette in the passport, but is actually like an I.D. card (credit card size) so far as I know. From other comments I have seen, it is valid for 10 years now and has to be renewed. No idea what that process is though. Not sure if anyone else will know that yet either.

Captainfantastic, that's a great news, you may be receiving it as I type!

As for the plastic card, because it has not been around for a while yet, nobody yet had to renew it. The process, the fee etc. has yet to be decided. UKBA may not decide it for next 9 years!

However, I am sure there will be a few people who misplace cards in near future they will come up with clear guideline and set fees for renewal process. I have been told, though, that it is simply renewal of the photo card, rather than reapplying for visa/residency, much like renewing driving license every 10 yrs, which is like £20 at the moment.

Thanks Baxx. Yes, the BRP was delivered at 15:45 this afternoon! In our case, it was definitely worth getting our MP involved, because we were getting nothing out of UKBA. We didn't know anything about this "investigation" and as for the email you send when it doesn't arrive.... other than the original automatic reply saying they would respond within 5 days.... they haven't yet, so we would STILL be waiting. Fortunately, we have managed to arrange flight to Malaysia for this Friday, so we can get to see how our nephew and niece are doing!

Thanks again, Baxx and we wish you good luck and hope you will hear something very soon! Good luck to everyone else that is still waiting or has just applied. If anyone finds this forum before they apply, then I would definitely recommend trying to get a personal appointment rather than going down the postal route. It is MOST DEFINITELY worth the extra expense!

I got my BRP today!

I had a postal application and honestly I think it was done quite fast.

I had stayed 2 months 15 days over the allowed time out of UK and i was expecting them to give me another spouse visa or FLR for 2 months 15 days from 09/12/2012 but instead i got my ILR on 05/03/2013 which is around 3 months from the date I made the application.

Theoretically they processed my postal application within 10 days, literally.
That, plus I got my BRP the next day.

Do I need to do anything more now guys? or just wait till its time for naturalisation? Anything I'm missing? Fill me in!

no one would need to renew it as in that time you're eligible for naturalisation.

Some (many I know) people don't opt for that route ;p
Not every one is allowed double nationality, and not everyone wants to be Brit.

(I, myself, won't naturalize till my folks are not with us. Will be longer than 10 yrs from now.)

I agree with your views. Some countries don't allow dual nationality and don't allow foreigner to buy land/property, whereas some people might already have property or planning to retire in their original country. Sometimes it's difficult to regain their first nationality back once they revoke it.

You do your own blog on spouse visa, presumably because you have in-depth knowledge on the subject, and you criticize people who want to keep their nationality?
I find THAT odd.

Anyway, this thread is not for seeking approval of personal beliefs, so I shan't say no more.

UKBA took just less than 6 months to process this ILR. I cannot complain.
Many thanks for answering my silly questions and best wishes to all going through this process.

Good luck!
