I am wondering if you can help me, I have been viewing this forum for awhile and just got the courage to send a message.

I applied for Leave to remain under human rights A8, as I came here when I was 16 and have lived here 11 years.

Date applied: 3rd April 2012
Acknowledgment Letter: 12th April 2012
Biometric done: 3rd May 2012
Chased wit MP : 12th January 2013
Decison: Refusal 2nd April 2013

I just want to know what are my options regarding this, or what steps can I take because I have no children and my family are all in America, Cananda and here. I do have a partner who is on 3 years he got it off his daughter who is British, we have been living together for a number of years now.

Also if I appeal will it be allowed under the new rules?

Please any advice would be appreciated.
Have you been giving right to appeal the decision ?
on what basis have you applied ?
what was the grounds for your refusal ?
what your solicitor says ?

You can ask for an advice on friday morning then !
and for private life it's need to be 20 years not 11 years .

One thing I will say though, people shld not be affraid to chase up applications and use any support they can get to boost their application. In my case after about 6 month w/out hearing nothing from HO, I got my MP involved ans a few weeks later got bio appt although HO reply was they don't find my application compassionate enough. I waited another 2 months and wrote bck to my MP and got solicitor as well to draft a letter to HO to chase up and ask them permission to work. A few later I phone (today) and was told the news. Now let see what's in those envelop! My faith is in GOD's hand.
Congratulations Tuna! :D I am so happy for you! :)

When UKBA used to grant 3 years DLR, those granted had access to all benefits including student loan (student loan is not regarded as public fund). A few years ago, they changed the policy so that those granted 3 years DLR were prevented from accessing all mainstream benefits, stopped from obtaining student loan.

With 2.5 years visa, the holder has access to absolutely nothing. The UKBA has the power to grant 2.5 years with access to some benefit if the applicant submitted proof of being destitute with their FLRO application.

Good news!!!!'
Just received the letter from the ukba granting me
30 months.
and it says i will be eligible for settlement after a continious
of 60 months in the uk!
I am baffled as i applied for the 10 years family route
on flr o and not flr m.
60 months is 5 years right?
anyway god bless you all and i wish all member of
Brothers in this thread to be granted the visa and

I've got 3 year DLR back in 2009 and i've got recourse to public fund doing my extension now does it mean i will be granted 2.5 years with no recourse to public funds?
