2nd is that how do you self attest the photocopies?
1) UK

2) Write "True copy of original" in a blank space on the document copy, leave 3 lines for your signature then write your first and last name and finally write the date below your name

Appreciate your help.
I got appointment for tomorrow morning in the goswell road office.
Did you apply for OCI afterwards? Is it a straightforward process or complicated?

Thanks again

Need help to understand rule and possible legal implication for my case.
=> Planing to start Naturalization process by August end, which i believe may be completing by Feb'16 including ceremony process.
=> My Indian Passport is expiring in mid-March'16.
Query :- After naturalization process.. I can only apply for British Passport.... which may take further 1-2 months time.
Is it legal to surrender expired Indian passport after that ?

I know this is tricky situation.. just in case someone can advise me on this.

I don't there is any problem in surrending expired passport. See q7. http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlinePr ... qSurrender

Also I don't think it will take till March-16 to get the British passport if you are going to apply for naturalisation in August-15, for me it took less than 3 months from naturalisation to British passport.

4) can i send my application of surrender by post or just in-person?

Hi,
I got my British passport and I now need to surrender my Indian passport. The vfs site says that the application has to be made in person. But how do I make an appointment ? I can't find any link to book my appointment. Do I need to ring them or is there any link where I can book my appointment online?
Do we need to provide any photographs along with the application?

Please some one help me ASAP.
Thanks in advance

Regards,
Deepa

I can't seem to find the link to book an appointment either, I found it last week but I think they've changed it this week.

Guys,
The form has been changed overnight, as usual, so no surprise. Now you need a USA/INDIA type photograph to be pasted.
. I wasted my whole day, today, as they changed the form without notice...

2 photos are required. I pasted one on the form and VFS asked me to submit one more

No, You need to submit self attested copy of British passport (first page with name, etc.). Keep the original with you.

My wife's timeline

Application Date : 26/11/2015
Postal / In-person: In-person
VFS office: Newcastle (for CGI Birmingham)
CGI issued surrender certificate : 07/12/2015
VFS SMS: 08/12/2015
Received Surrender certificate: 09/12/2015

Certificate and cancelled passport were put directly into the Special Delivery envelope we supplied. The certificate arrived so badly crushed that the toilet paper I use in the morning is more pretty after I've used it! At least they could use their own envelop to protect the document and then place that in the special delivery envelope. Previously they've done the same with my marriage certificate when my wife was changing her name and before that, with my university certificate when I applied for ECNR.
