according to directgov website you need to allow six weeks for first passport application and compulsory 30 minute interview. god knows what they find to discuss for 30 minutes

six weeks is too long for me to risk it as i am flying out for an extended period on 2 sept
Interview doesn't take 30mins. Took 10 minutes in my case.
It's more the up to 6 weeks bit that is problematic. It would have to be over and done with within 20 days in my case.

cool congrats Vipul1981...1664 your are the red passport holders now :)

Can i please ask question...when you went for ceremony did they ask for approval letter?

I havent received any letter yet but if i call council would they be able to tell me if they have received my certificate, that way i can find out what the decision was...If i call council tomorrow and tell them that i am at work and letter is at home. if i give name DOB etc details would they tell me?

Would this story work...i think i have read on this forum ppl were able to find this out by calling council though the didnt receive letter at that time

Yes I am sure they will do some checks...infact some one with serious criminal records...It shouldnt be diffiult for them to find it out as most of the information is digitally available....

The programs like Traffic Cops...UK Border force show at least present the things that cops/officer can easily/digitally get access to so many records and some times they get that info in minutes...

I was being sarcastic .., i agree they may do some check but would they take months and months? In fact if they are doing this repeatedly then there should be a slick process for this..

I think UKBA taking more than 2 months or in some cases even more that 6 months is just a joke...

And even 8 days to post a letter after decision has been taken....so this shows how efficent they are..

Any call center/ customer service center in the world has proper scripts/structured answers for general questions...UKBA even can not have some standard/strucutre method in answering calls aksing for status update...so i can imagine how strucutred they would be for complicated things like doing security checks...

some people may aruge that answering calls is not an important thing and that is ok to be random in answering calls....but if some one cant handle simple things how can they propery handle complex things..

This is the one and only thing i can remember in the past few years that i cant do anything even though i am angry and frustrated because of the awful service.

If my decision is positive and if I get BC...definitely i will try to complain about this

rnr79, almost there mate. Thanks

Easier said than done but would suggest to remain patient and wait for the invite letter. I did try this with my council as my invite letter arrived VERY late. They won't discuss anything.

Also u need that letter to attend the ceremony.

Hang in there mate, trust me it's not far behind

[quote="vipul1981"]1664,

These were pretty obvious boxes which we missed

On the last page just below our signatures we had not dated the form
On the 2nd page missed to fill how many passports we are sending along with the application form.
Finally our grandparents details- eventhough we were them as unknown the lady asked us to write that on a piece of paper that maternal and paternal grandparent details unknown+date and sign.

I guess it varies how each post office works(ESP for my last point)

how do you know they've mixed up the first and last names?

On the certificate you have

Name - *LAST NAME* FIRST NAME

Guys.....Hurray.....I am so relieved now....got the approval letter today...dated 4th Aug..

91 Days after the application was submitted to the council

Thanks guys for all your guidance and support during hard time of waiting...

Nazia88 and other who are waiting...all my best wishes with you...I pray to GOD that you will receive your good news very soon...

I noticed one thing though people who applied in the same week as i did they are getting results...so guess UKBA deal applications in blocks instaed of individual cases...dont know (?)

Some people wrote here that the letter has Nationality team mentioned in it but mine doesnt have reference to any teams..
