It seems they are processing application very randomly! There is no pattern or procedure.
No clue which process they follow to give passport. They seem to giving passports to the persons who will chase them too much. Then only they are responding I guess.

Hi,
I need to get my passport re-issued as it expires in couple of months, i am planning to visit the HCI in London to submit the application in person. So is there any limit on the tokens issued for us to submit the application ? Also, is the collection in person facility stopped ? i don't see it mentioned on the website, but some people are still able to go and collect it.

Any info/caveats will be helpful to have a successful application,
Thanks,
K

Hi folks,
Can some one tell me when applying for the passport re-issue, are they doing any police verification again in India? Or is it only the printing in India process taking more time?

Can someone who got their passport re-issued recently confirm?
Thanks
Korla.

I applied mine today, except for the queue but rest all was fine.

As per my knowledge there is no verification if you documents are clear.

Hi there,
I have applied for re-issue of my indian passport on 30th Jan 2014. They gave me 6-7 weeks time frame. But whenever I followed up I have received the same email which most of you received. I have PR application appointment which I first scheduled for tomorrow and now rescheduled to 1st week of April. 7 weeks already over and I am counting... Anyone facing same issue? Is it worth going to London office and ask for an update?

Thanks.

I am also facing the same issue. I had applied it on 29th jan and still no news. However they asked me to resubmit the photographs as per the new request when i asked them the status of my application. Not sure whats going on and i know its frustrating. Please if anybody has applied around same time please update the status here .

Hi All,

My passport will expire soon. I am planning to applying for re-issue of passport in a week or 2.
I request you all to help me out to complete the application form.

1. Application for Indian passport: I am applying for re-issue of passport since my current passport is getting expired. I got married recently hence I don’t have my spouse name, I want to add my spouse in the new passport. So should I have to tick both Re-issue of passport and Miscellaneous Service options?
2. Question No: 7 – Full name of father – Should I have to write down first name + surname or just first name? Please note, my current passport has only first name.
3. Question No: 8 – Full name of mother – Should I have to write down first name + surname or just first name? Please note, my current passport has only first name.
4. Question No: 14 – Full name of spouse – Should I have to write down first name + surname or just first name?
5. Question No: 26 – Details of the service required (If applying for misc. service) : Should I have write down “addition of spouse name”?

Also could you please let me know if the below documents are sufficient enough?

1. Current passport
2. Original BRP card
3. Photocopies of passport first page , last page and expired visa pages (self-attested)
4. Photocopy of BRP card (self- attested)
5. Special delivery cover
6. 4 photos
7. Fee
8. Original Marriage certificate (Self-attested)
9. Spouse original passport ---------- Do I need this?
10. Original spouse BRP card
11. Photocopies of spouse passport first page , last page and expired visa pages (self-attested)
12. Photocopy of spouse BRP card (self- attested)

Please note : I am not going to change my permanent address. Going to apply for re-issue of new passport as my current passport is getting expired and add my spouse name in my new passport.

Thanks.

Hi tier2_cts

First of all, I would suggest - apply well in advance if you have any trips planned/ visa extension is due.

Please find answers below -
Q1) Just tick - re-issue. Being main purpose of application is re-issue, that would be sufficient
Q2, 3 & 4) Its up to you. As question says Full name and has sections for First, Middle and last names - its quite straight forward.
For Q2 & 3) Its better to keep same as those are in old passport.
Q5) Covered in Q1.

Documents required
1. Current passport
2. Original BRP card
3. Photocopies of passport first page , last page (self-attested)
4. Photocopy of BRP card (self- attested)
5. pre-paid Special delivery envelope
6. 4 photos
7. Fees
8. Original Marriage certificate & self attested photocopy
9. Spouse original passport
10. Original spouse BRP card
11. Photocopies of spouse passport first page , last page (self-attested)
12. Photocopy of spouse BRP card (self- attested)

Hope this clears all your doubts.

All the best

Thanks Vespasian.

In the application form there is a note; asking us to complete every column of application form and fill “Not Applicable” where the information is “NIL”.
So could you please confirm me whether it is required to do the same?

I have no information to provide for the following questions, Q2, Q21,Q22, Q22 I, Q22 II, Q22 III, Q25 a, Q25 b, Q26.

Thanks.

Hi tier2_cts

Yes, if you do not have any information to fill in, please write 'Not Applicable'

However, Q22, I, II and III - needs to be filled in.
As you are applying for re-issue of passport and you have your current PP with you. You will need to fill in all the information in these questions.

Thanks Vespasian.

I am applying for re-issue of passport, I didn't check that question properly.

In the form for the question 7 and 8 there is no section for first name, middle name and last name.

Thanks.

Hi
Having full names on PP is always beneficial with respect to relationship proof with the person.

I would suggest to write full names.

Cheers!

Thanks Vespasian.

I prefer writing the full name.
But wondering whether I need to provide any document as an evidence and also wondering whether this will cause any delay from Indian embassy in delivering my passport (say by mistake if embassy thinks my parents has changed their names and wants to do additional verifications) since the my father's and mother's name in my old passport has only their first name.

Thanks.

Hi

For this you can attach a self attested photocopy of their passports first and last page and explain it while submitting application.

Finaly, today I have got this email from them. ->"The new passport is ready. If envelope has been provided then it will be posted to you shortly. Please DO NOT come in person. "

I am wondering whether to go in person. How much time it might take for the passport to be dispatched. I have ILR appointment in 2 weeks time.

Hi tier2_cts,
i went there around 6-6.15 on a working Wednesday to stand in the line, and i was 5-6th to get the token.
If you want to apply in the first 10 tokens, make sure you have all your documentation correct.

Actual time to get the token - 2.5 hours, to submit the application it took only 3 minutes at the counter.

Go prepared,
K

Hi

For parents visa, I think it should be okay.

I would suggest, make 2 copies of form. One with full names and other with whats on your current PP.
If they do not accept it without Parent's original documents , just submit 2nd Form.

For getting a token within first 10 tokens, it depends.
I reached HCI at around 6.30 am. I was 3rd in the line. However other 2 were there for OCI and got 1st token for PP.

It might differ depending on which day of the week you are visiting. If its mid week, there could be less rush.

Important -
Check weather. Be ready for rain and cold. Sometimes its hard to stand for 2 hours if its raining or cold.

Cheers!!

Could you please let me know whether I should write both from and to address on the special delivery envelope which will be submitted along with all other documents for the passport renewal?

Thanks.

Hello friends
I am new to this forum and wondered if any one could throw some light.
My three children will have their indian passport expire end of July. Unfortunately we booked a holiday and now realised that for schengen visa it's mandatory to have three months left from date of return.
My question is their passports which were issued for five years - therefore would reissue of a new passport be easier and also because the passports have not expired. Secondly do we need to show parents passport and how long does all this take. We have the holiday start July hence it's probably a bit tight
Any advice is appreciated
Kind regards
Sam
