I had a similar situation and was advised by NCS to delay my application until I was certain that it would be received on a date that I was in the UK. There is zero discretion on that requirement. You MUST be have been in the UK three years (I was a spouse of a BC) prior to your application. It wasn't worth the chance that I'd lose £874 for a few days wait.

Eligibility criteria: EEA exercising treaty rights (had ILR when arrived as minor trough parent residence permit)
Language criteria met: Life in the UK + B1 CEFR
Method of application: NCS
Council name if NCS used: Bracknell Forest
Date of application: 27.03.2014
Payment method: Credit Card
Date of receipt by UKBA: 28.03.2014
Date of acknowledgment:
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 02.04.14 (online statement)
Date approval received:
Date of ceremony:

The nice lady at NCS Bracknell said "this is a busy time for UKBA as it's when they change the fees and all, so it might take longer than average, however every case is different, but ideally it should take between 2 and 3 months :) "
judging by how fast they've taken the fee, considering they received on a Friday, that was 3 working days so hopefully they've catch up with the applications.

Ive heard that not because the fee had been deducted meant that your application is being looked at by a case worker. Before they start processing your application the first thing they do is take their fee and then it sits in a cue waiting for the next available caseworker.

Well my point was...
If you look through the timeliness from November onwards it was taking them anything up to 2 months, to even acknowledge, at least if they're fast taking the money then they've catch up and cleared most of the backlog I hope :D

i hope so too, judging from late Oct 2013 timelines, a lot of people were just having the fees deducted in Jan which was pretty shocking. hopefully they have cleared the backlog and deal with us like the Feb 2014 applicants or faster. :D :D :D

Hi all,

It sounds like March applicants are getting their approvals now

Re: Naturalisation application processing timelines (only)

Hi everybody, here is my update with my naturalisation application:

Application Timeline
Eligibility criteria: 6 years(Ancestry) + 2 years ILR
Method of application: NCS Southampton
Date of application: 13 March 2014 (Sorry, my previous submission had April, it is March)
Date of receipt by UKBA: 17 March 2014
Date of debit of fees: 17th March 2014
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 17th March 2014
Date of receipt of approval: 29th March 2014
Date of Ceremony: 13th May 2014

I was really expecting a sort of 6 week wait time, but it is all concluded within 3 weeks of sending the application in. Now we just have 5 weeks to wait before we can attend the ceremony, which is a bummer as I was hoping to get this all concluded by the end April, but hey, all done and dusted, finally!

So hopefully we should start receiving ours soon.

Good luck!

Mohamed
