HURRAH!!!

I am so happy not because my HSMP got approve. But because my lost application documents have been found by HSMP team.

It is weird...very weird. my application was received by HSMP as per Fedex on 5th July but HSMP guys were denying. Now they have accepted that they have found my application documents (Thanks to them) BUT it doesnt contain my application form. I sent everything in a binder and it was very well organized. I dont know who removed my application form from my documents.

However, I am happy that my docs are found. I have humbly requested HSMP team to send me my documents back and thanked them profoundly.

This first experience with HSMP was very horrible :) anyways I'll apply again and will arrange some better way to deliver my application to HSMP guys. I was trying to get HSMP before 28. But it didnt work :) No worries.

I'll be back soon :)

Cheers

Fedex confirmed delivery on 5th July. However CC hasnt been charged yet. I sent email to HSMP team on HSMP.Workpermits@ind.homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

No reply from their side. I tried calling them on 0114 207 6020 AND 0114 207 4074 but no one attends the call.

Please suggest what should I do to confirm that they have got my documents as I have sent all my original documents.

Today when i checked my mail box i got a very sad news.. my HSMP got refused...

applied Under 28 - awarded point as follows
Age - 5 points
Degree - 15 points
Earnings- 25 points
Work exp- 0 points (claimed for 50 points)
total - 45 points...

HO refusal quote : "We note that an employer reference was provided from XXX company however, it didnot provide the necessary details, as outlined above, to award points. Without duties & responsibilities we are unable to accurately assess the level of work exp & therefore were unable to award points for this section."

In my US visa petiotion my employer have filed in which my duties & responsibilities being expalined in detail. i dont know why they didnt considered that. atleast they mite have awarded 35 points.
Iam clueless & confused whether to go for review or fresh application with additional documents......

Now I am concerned. I use the exact same original letters that I use t file for US Dept. of Labor certification. Each letters describe the following:

- Date of employment
- Position
- Hours
- Responsibilities in detail

For responsibilities, each bullets are very long. So if HO deny my app. based on that, I will be puzzled too!

UKDestiny, your best course is to appeal for review. It'll be assigned to a different caseworker

Anbody here who applied from India

Post by styleman » Wed Aug 09, 2006 9:49 am

Query 1: Anbody here who applied from India and paid using any bank debit card?

I am planning to apply for UK HSMP. I am living in India. I am going to request the follwoing points,

5 points for being under 28
- Date of birth: 12th June 1980
15 points for my qualification
- Bachelor Of Computer Engineering
35 points for work experience
- Web developer: June 2001 to March 2005 (3 Years and 10 Months)
- Senior Software Engineer: July 2005 to till date (1 Year and 2 Month)
10 points for spouse's or partner's achievements
- Bachelor Of Commerce

65 total points

Query 2: I am sure i will get the 65 points, but which is minimum point requirement. Is 65 makes any problem or delay in processing?

Query 3: I am going to request the spouse's point. I am married but 3 month short in 2 years living together. Is 2 years living together condition applied to married couple?

Looking for reply from all of you.

Thanks and Regards,

Be very careful on how you calculate your points for work visa and wife's qualification. Get hold of case worker's manuals from this forum and give it a thorough read. Web developers, programmers and even software engineers are NOT treated as graduate level experiences. As for spouse's achievments you need 3 different proof to show that you have been living together. This thing looks easy but coming from India creates some trouble since we dont have official tenancy lease or council tax statements etc.

My time lines are all messed up and I dont know what to do

Application received - 26th July
No news as of today - 9th August

Also someone up there said that his/her 4 year bachlor degree was not considered. This has me worried since I also have a bachlor's degree for 4 years from India. Can someone please clarify whether this is considered as graduate level qualification or not?

I am doubtful whether the the author of the above post has himself referred to the relevant caeworker guidance notes before making that statement.

The HSMP INTERNAL CASEWORKER GUIDANCE V4.0 for work experience has the following to say on IT posts :
Below Graduate level

Trainee programmer
Computer operator
System support operator
Help desk professional
Technical support person
I.T. Trainer
Junior programmer
Database administrator (undertaking basic duties)
Data operations manager (if it is a basic role)

Graduate level

Applications programmer (if writing the programmes)
Systems programmer
Computer software engineer
Database administrator (if undertaking complex responsibilities)
Data operations manager (if undertaking complex responsibilities)
Software developer
Systems analyst
I.T Technical sales specialist
I.T. Product developer
Systems administrator
Network Manager
Graphic Designer
Internet/Web professional
Please read through the above list, read that document carefully and decide for your own satisfaction whether your position is raduate level.

As regards the 4-yr engineering degree from India, if the course is recognised by the AICTE and your university is recognised by UGC, then NARIC will acknowledge the course as British Bachelors degree equivalent.

RKC,

As you said below,

>>> As regards the 4-yr engineering degree from India, if the course is recognised by the AICTE and your university is recognised by UGC, then NARIC will acknowledge the course as British Bachelors degree equivalent.
>>>

My course and university are recognized by AICTE by UGC.
I have not attached any NARIC certificate..Will that do?
My decision is made. But I am not able to know what it is?

Can you reply with the number on which I can call to know?
(is this 0441142076020?? -- Its always busy)

The key to getting through 00441142076020 is persistence :). I used to try for 10-15 times in a row before getting through. At times, I was not able to get through for the entire day. But the point is that on calling this number, if you get a "number busy", dont just give up, keep on calling on that number and you will get through after some time. I cannot guarantee anything nor can I suggest a rule of thumb, but what I have suggested above has worked for me many times. And yes, this is the only number where they will tell you whether you have qualified or not. The customer contact centre are not in a position to tell u that.

You do not need to attach the NARIC certificate to qualify for that category. The HSMP team will refer to the NARIC database to award points. I did a NARIC verification so that I could be sure as to whether I can claim 25 points for my Msc. The other reason was that I would like to know where my qualifications stand in the UK, where I am planning to build a sucessful career.
I say that NARIC "generally" decides on your degree and university based on UGC/AICTE/NAAC affiliation/certification based on the following link:
http://www.cscs.wmin.ac.uk/international/NARIC.htm

Again there is no rule of thumb, and neither am I an authority on this. For e.g. I am unsure of what the take of NARIC is on Universities which have been granted deemed Uniiversity status very recently.

But generally it has been seen that people applying from India have been appropriately awarded the claimed points for this category.

with all due respect dude you need to read the entire manual and not just the summary sections or boldened text. Here is what the guide (v 4.0) says about IT industry occupations
IT INDUSTRY OCCUPATIONS
General Comments
This industry has a wide range of posts at varying levels. A lot of the
graduate level posts will say ‘would normally require a degree or HND’ but will
also add that people may have the equivalent in experience if they have
worked their way up.
Those who haven’t got the qualifications will usually have started at the lowest
level (trainee programmer – which requires A levels) and they will have
gained the appropriate experience over a longer period of time. So, if an
applicant is in a graduate level job, but does not have the qualification, they
will have had to spend a considerable period of their work experience gaining
the experience. It is very unlikely that they will have entered a company
straight into a graduate level post.
If employees have a degree in another subject then the employer often
arranges some training (it may be in house or post graduate) to enable them
to understand the work.
The caseworker should assess the job description, as quite often you will find
that IT companies will have different titles for jobs. For example, a work
reference may show the job title as ‘Software Engineer’ but the description
indicates a programmer. It is the level of the work the individual does that is
being assessed. This may mean more information is required for clarification.
Below are some of the IT occupations with a brief description of the
role/duties and what level it is. However, this is not an exhaustive list as there
are many other job titles in the IT industry.
Please note: Although the level of the post has been highlighted on the jobs
below, to make it an easy reference guide for caseworkers, they should only
be used as a guide.
Caseworkers should always check the job description against the guidance
for that particular job as the graduate or senior level can sometimes depend
on the complexity of the post.
It clearly says that for IT industry they do not consider only the job title or the post but they rely on the roles and responsibilities as documetned in the refernce letter along with the education of the person and this is exactly what I meant. Do NOT rely on your post or job title. Read through the guide completely and you would know what exactly they count as graduate level work experience in IT sector.
