Thanks champion. Yeah, it was approved on 9th May, and I don't know why it took so long to reach me on 21st. However my good luck continues . Phoned the local council today, and was told that I could attend the forthcoming ceremony this Friday (25th);-). They hold the ceremony once per month, but there'll be no ceremonies in July and August because they'll be extremely busy over the summer.champion wrote:Congrates mate. So is this 1 week service has to be submitted in person or allowed through Post Office?champion wrote:And apply for the passport day aftersuperrain wrote:Thanks champion. 1 week is for applying in person to passport office
however
I am sure due to change of rule many people have already taken appointment with passport office and there will be hardly any left
champion, many thanks for your reminder. Just studied the information on the IPS website and then phoned the 24-hour Passport Telephone Service and successfully managed to book an appointment on Thursday 31st May for the Fast Track 1-week service, just one day before the new rule will be implemented.superrain wrote:Thanks, it's worth to check it out with the passport office any way. I think the average would be meaningless. The actual amount of time delay to Citizenship Ceremony varies considerably. For example, here in Birmingham, the biggest local authority in the UK (indeed in Europe) they hold ceremonies on two days per month, and have a minimum of two separate ceremonies on each such day. At each ceremony they hand out 30 certificates. How long does it take on average before the ceremony, does anyone know?
Is it correct - you got the approval 10 days before the acknowledgement?!tatenda wrote:Hi All,
I came across this site sadly the day after i had submitted my application. However i am so glad i did for it is brilliant . I want to thank you all for you contribution. Here is my timeline:
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 23/05/ 2007 (letter dated 21.05.07)
Date of receipt of approval: 15 MAY 2007 (letter dated 10.05.07)
...and indeed I did just that. I live in the sticks where ceremonies are few and far between so opted for my nearest big city (Glasgow) where they happen more frequently and got an early date.on the AN application form there is a space to nominate a different local authority area for your Citizenship Ceremony
Oh dear thanks Alexch for noticing my error, this is my corrected revised timeline:AlexCh wrote:Is it correct - you got the approval 10 days before the acknowledgement?!tatenda wrote:Hi All,

For first adult passport applicants the waiting time for postal applications is given as 6 weeks, even with check and send.champion wrote:Post office is always 2 weeks service

Agree John but I am scared that my info will be on their record and open to anyone.John wrote:Do appreciate this! .... which might explain why first passports are now going to take much longer than in the past.
