Hi Guys

Nothing was asked from my wife by the immigration staff, they just asked her to wait for the TB test. During the TB test the nurse (medical staff) does confirm the UK address and phone number just for medical purposes and nothing more.

it took around 30 minutes from giving her passport to the desk to her coming out of the arrivals gates. So the process is quick as long as the queue to the immigration desks is small ;)

It goes without saying that the spouse should at least know some basic information by heart i.e. phone number, address, date of marriage, if the husband/wife come at the airport to pickup etc.

Best of luck guys.

Hi Rithi

When applying from inside UK the Permanent residence VISA is called ILR, however when applied from outside the UK its called ILE (Indefinite Leave to Enter). Have a look at the requirements for this VISA category if you qualify to apply.

Hope this helps

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the late update! A lot has been happening since I last posted in this forum!

I have good news! Our visa rejection has been overturned!

The ECO missed the deadline to reply and for ages we hadn't received anything explaining what was happening next. We were advised we'd probably automatically get a hearing date but we waited for ages and nothing came in the post. Then my partner got a lettersaying it has been overturned!

We're so happy! He's already submitted his passport to get the visa put in there.

Does anyone know what happens next? If there's anything we need to worry about upon his arrival in the UK.

I can't believe how long this has taken! But so glad it's finally over and I can have him back!

Hope there's good news for everyone waiting.

All the best to everyone!

Spouse visa

Post by setmform » Mon Apr 02, 2012 12:08 am

Don't worry too much my friend, my wifes took 2.5 months.

waiting a month or two is quite common for settlement visas.

Applied for my wifes entry clearance on 6/4/10 and she collected her
passport with the visa and supporting docs on 24/6/10.

Dont worry Lucy, it will come very soon okay, just keep positive..... Wont be long now.

We are still waiting, hoping to see a status change soon now, but I think we still got a couple weeks before we see anything but keeping positive hoping we might see something towards the end of this week or next week, you never know.... right?

Just keep positive wont be much longer now okay.

Hi Rithi

My knowledge in this area is not good at all. I am in no position to give you advise on whether you qualify for ILE/ILR.

However you are correct in terms of the expiry date for ILE, ILE usually carries an expiry date which is the same as the expiry of your passport [http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/polic ... 9/#header8. You can check this link for further information.

Other forum members should be able to help you with your application. I think you should start a new thread.

Difference in Settlement and ILR:

Settlement - usually referred to as Spouse VISA - valid for 27 months, is upgraded to ILR/FLR once the required time (2 years) passed in the UK.

ILR/ILE - Indefinite Leave which never expires, usually completing an year on ILR/ILE you can apply for UK Citizenship (if I am not wrong), subject to your previous immigration status and time spent in the UK on your previous immigration status as well.

Hope this helps.

Is there any way you can call them to chase it up? I swear I read in a forum somewhere someone did that for their call letter and received the letter they were waiting for by e-mail after the call, then the actual letter in the post a few days after.

Worth a try if you have the contact details of your BHC. They seem a bit hopeless with organising themselves and it sounds like if you manage to speak to someone they suddenly remember what their job is!

Hope you get good news soon! And thanks for the congratulations! We've been apart since August so I can't wait to get him back now!

Congrats lucy_2011

That was a quick reflex in getting the tickets, nice one I must say. When I asked my wife to get the earliest tickets she said why so quick hahahaha.

By the way my wife also took the same flight as yours and landed at Heathrow around 5:55pm UK time. However she came out around 8:30pm due to the heavy amount of people going to the immigration desks.

Best of luck and have a nice married life.
