Assuming that you are going to apply from within UK.

1. No HSMP anymore in UK. So you need to apply for Tier 1. If your university / qualification is listed in the self-assessment tool for english language requirements, then you don't need to sit for ane nglish exam. But if it is not there, you must take one of the listed exams (e.g.- IELTS). The letter from University to confirm the degree was taught in english will not do ... not accepted as evidence under Tier 1.

2. Yes it could. Because of the following explanation given in the Tier 1 guidance notes (para 110, point 4) - "Please note that whilst tax documents are included in the list of acceptable documentation, they will rarely be of use. This is because tax documents are usually produced at the end of a fixed tax period and will therefore not show the entire period for which the applicant is claiming previous earnings unless they exactly mirror the period claimed. Applicants should therefore be cautious about using such documentation unless they are satisfied that that it details the exact amount of earnings for which they are claiming points".

3. Unfortunately, I am unable to comment on this.

My apologies for mentioning only IELTS - you can take any of the approved tests.

Here're your options -
1. Are you a national of a majority English language speaking country listed? If yes, you don't need to do anything except provide evidence of your nationality as prescribed in the form.
2. Is your qualification listed in the self-assessment tool for english requirements? If yes, provide evidence of the same as prescribed in the form.
3. If none of the above, you need to sit for any one of the approved / listed exams.

NARIC letter is usually for confirming overseas qualifications as being equivalent to UK bachelors / masters / higher standards. As far as I know, NARIC doesn't provide confirmation whether your degree was taught in English or not. If you wish, you can check with NARIC.

Also, if the self-assessment tool awards you 30 points for your qualification it doesn't necessarily mean that your qualification satisfies the english requirements as well. Proceed further in the self-assessment tool and you will come to the english requirement section where it will ask you if you want to consider your qualification (already entered by you) for english language requirements. That is where it will tell you whether your qualification meets the requirement or not.

2) according to the list one if i am not national of listed countries then i have to pass an English Language Test from the list of tests, which means IELTS is not the only option i can do any of the test listed.

3) according to the list one if i hold a degree that was taught in English and is equivalent to a United Kingdom bachelor's degree or above, so i dont need to do English Language Test.
it means i need to get an equivalent certificate from NARIC,
is NARIC certf. must or not?, if my university (Preston University, Karachi, Kohat, Pakistan) is listed in HO points calculator database and they are giving me 30 points for this then i dont think its necessary to get certf. from NARIC, what u think?

hello all,
i am planning to apply for tier-1 after 2 months. i have one query regarding maintenance funds. i have got this 2800 +1600 pounds( for dependant) transferred to my salary account thru my dad. the same account i am going to show for my last 12 months payslip. so in this scenario, do i have to show the source of the amount that my dad have deposited as some gift or something. because my salary account is credited with only my salary every month and not this huge some. will it create some problems going ahead.i will really appreciate if somebody could clear this doubt.
