Looks like Home Office is back to its normal mode of not giving any post-biometric approvals.

Ok i dragged my husband to royal mail's sorting office at 6.30am to get this letter. They've sent back our application for us to re-sign & send it back to them as we were on holiday during 250/3/2010 to 09/04/2010. Our application reached HO on 08/04/2015 & they said we couldn't apply before 09/04/2015. As the application reached them a day before, they asked is to re-sign the forms & re-date it & they'll reconsider it. Now i don't know if they will take 6 months from now (hopefully not). They also have sent a brown envelope which is empty & has their sticker on it & they have asked us to re-send this brown evelope too to them & not destroy it. This has to be sent to them no later than 16/09/2015. I'll keep u guys posted on this but please keep your fingers crossed for me. This letter that they sent us with our documents was dated 19/08/2015.

did you return to the uk 9/4/10?
if yes then they made a mistake and you should complain.
it is the day AFTER they received it eg 9/04/2010 that counts as teh start of the 5-year period.
and obviously part-day absence does not count as absence, IF you re-entered the UL on that day (9/04).

I submitted my application with the NCS on the 2nd of April, but due to bank holidays, the HO only got it on the 7th so I'm also in the biometrics-requiring set of applicants. My mistake, we returned to the uk on 25/4/10. I remembered this due to the volcanic eruption in iceland that year. We went on holiday so in their letter to us they said i should have applied after 25th april 2015. But what i fail to understand is that we went on holiday for 3 weeks & stayed an extra week due to the ash clous issue in europe in 2010. I'll wait till i get an answer from them. I've sent the form back to them. Lets see but i want to raise this issue if they refuse it.

probably a fke poster, he/she didn't realise 6th April was a bank holiday, there are several fke timelines in this thread and others i've noticed. Its neither here nor there, but i encourage anyone reading these forums to take timelines with a pinch of salt

This happened to me but luckily I went through the NCS. I got a phone call a few hours after having my NCS appointment and the lady said she went through my application again before posting it and realised I was actually in Australia 5 years ago from the date of my appointment. She therefore held on to my application and posted it off for me 2 weeks later when I would have been back in the country. If she hadn't picked that up then it would have been sent off and I would have been in the same boat as you. I mean she should have picked it up during our appointment but I'm just lucky she decided to look through it again before posting!

I wouldn't be so worried if I were you. If anything, there should be relief that the Post Biometrics application have started being approved and so far, there doesn't appear to be much partiality in the order of approvals we have seen so far.

If you look at the tracker :

They have only approved applications up to the beginning of the second week in appril. Your application is in the 4th week so it's still in the queue.

Take heart and keep waiting patiently.

thanks guys, its just really frustrating as im sure you understand. if i knew it was going to take so long i would have done it in jan! but all my friends got theirs back so quickly in previous years i really had no idea it would drag out so long. This post has been super helpful and its nice to see that loads of people in the march post have got theirs back. The COE is being very strict and wont even consider marrying us until they see my citizenship.

I may have to move to another part of the UK in 4 weeks. This means I may be hundreds of miles from the Local NCS council where I put in my Nationality application.

Does anyone know if you can have the ceremony done at a different council?
I really didn't think the whole process was going to take this long before getting approval.

I think you have two options.

A. You can go ahead and move to the new address and inform HO of the change of address asap. Assuming they haven't decided on your application already, they will sent the approval to the new address and the new council will invite you to the ceremony.

B. You can have Royalmail redirection setup, and come back to the old town for the ceremony, whenever you get invited.
