ILR Success Story at Solihull PEO

Post by umeruzair » Fri May 04, 2012 12:25 pm

First of all I would like to say thanks to all the member of this group who helped me alot putting my application for ILR together. I have recently been granted the ILR and I thought to share my experience below which might be beneficial for others,

From the beginning the first task was to book an PEO appointment which was done in March exactly 45 days before the actual date of 28 days period. After few sleepless nights and madly tries I have managed to secure two appointments but both were about a week after my first date of 28 days period, since then I always try to reschedule my appointment for a earlier date and found an appointment exactly 28th day before my current leave was expiring. Just to let you know that my application was in country transfer from Student visa to Work Permit then Tier 1 (G). The first two years was WP and 3 years on TIG. After all the suggestions I booked the Solihull PEO as it was nearest to me.

Application and supporting documents,

As mentioned above the application was WP+T1 therefore the form was Set (O) and it was for me (as main applicant) and my wife (as dependant). The days out of the country was 148 in total and a single absence of 32 days in last five years. The dependant has 370 days out from last 2 years. All of our days out were just the annual leave holidays and no business related leave. The supporting documents prepared to be submitted with the application is as below,

Checklist of items enclosed

1. Completed SET(O) Form Version 6 April 2012
2. Letter of Employment
3. Table of list of absence from UK
4. List of annual leave confirmation from the Employer
5. Main Applicant Original Passport
6. Tier 1 General Self Assessment Summary Sheet
7. List of Previous earnings from the Employer
8. Original Payslips from last 12 months
9. Bank Statements confirming previous earnings
10. Original Work Permit letter
11. Employment History P60’s
12. Dependant Original Passport
13. Life in the UK test Results for (Main Applicant) and (Dependant)

Cohabitation documents:-

1. NHS Medical Card for (Main Applicant) and (Dependant)
2. UK Border Agency Tier 1 (G) letter (Main Applicant) and (Dependant)
3. utility bills Joint names
4. Hospital Appointment Letter for Dependant
5. Joint Bank Statements

Finance Evidence
1. Savings Account Bank Statements for last three months

On the day experience:

The appointment was for 10am but reached to PEO by 9:45 and allowed in after a nominal security check search bags and metal checks etc. We went with a young child on the pram so therefore after normal checks we allowed into the premises with the little one (just to let you know the appointment was for main applicant and one dependant (wife) but no questions been raised for the kid. After 2 minutes of allowing in to the premises the ticket has been issued to me and asked to wait to be called. After 15 minutes of wait just the main applicant allowed into the interview area where about 5 interview counters and one payment counter available.

At the interview counter experience,

The guy ask me sit down and then told to read the biometric message on the glass window in front which states that your biometric will be delivered at your home address and there should be someone available to collect and sign for it therefore if the biometric is required at the corresponding address please mention now. After this the interviewer told me to follow the directions and only provide the documents as asked and if you have the copies please provide them after the original. (Just for information I have made good thick folder of all the documents along with the checklist and sticky notes etc but the interviewer refused to take the whole folder and asked for the info one after the other)

The first document interviewer asked was the Set (O) application form, the next document was main applicant and dependant passports along with the copies. After 2 mins of checking passports with the photocopies the interviewer ask that did you provide the copies of all your passport along with the visa and i replied yes and then he asked the same question and told me to think before I say and this alarmed me that I have not copies my first passport where the first visa entry shown and then I replied that the old passport not been copied and then I have been told that he will copy that passport and warning been given that answer specifically for any question been asked and with the little apology the interviewer move to the next step. The next was the last 12 months payslip and bank statements with copies, then the life in the uk original and copies for both of us and then when he see the letter from the employer on my folder listing all my earnings for last 12 months and the Tier 1 self assessment form then he asked for both of them original this time no copies. After 5 minutes of quite checking he said the last document I need is the Cohab documents from last 2 years and I have given him the whole list of document which he looked and throw the old ones (like NHS card dated 2008 and some 2009 documents) back and only pick one from mid last year one from November last year and 3 from this year and tick the boxes in his sheet and also entered something on his PC. After giving the last document he asked to provide just the copies of only specific documents he want so he ask for the copy of each document one by one and returned all the others back to me. Then there was a silence of about 10 mins and after that he said now you go to counter 6 to pay the fee and then come back to me to take your passport and explain that I am happy with your application and the next step after payment is to wait for the biometric and then approximately after 2 hours of that you will get the decision and the original documents back. Then I paid the money and got my passports back and wait for the biometrics, which was taken 20 minutes after this interview.

Now the waiting time start and we waited within the building not left because I thought that the CW might ask for some other documents as only few been taken. After 4 hours of wait and continuous ask for it my token number been called and told that due to the "IT" problem they cannot produce the results therefore all the original documents back to you and the results will be posted to the address as mentioned on the form. I specifically ask how long will it take and the lady on the entrance counter said she doesn't know and we have to wait and it will be soon hopefully. We have been told to leave the building after checking the documents.

Now after the above nightmare the waiting game began and after 3 days of original appointment the letter dispatched confirming that the application has been approved and granted the ILR and then we should wait for the BRP which will take 7 to 10 working days. Then after 5 days of this letter the BRP has been landed this morning.

All in all the whole experience was good and I have covered almost everything people asked and worried in this forum and hopefully the above detail would help someone.

Just one last point I am now going to apply for my child MN1 which I have booked the Nationality Checking Services appointment booked about a month ago for about 2 weeks after my PEO.

Good luck for all you who are applying and thanks for all the support.

Hi

Congratulations umeruzair.

I am due for my appointment on June 14th which is next month at Birmingham PEO.

My current Tier 1 visa expire on 12th July and I have converted my initial student visa into HSMP in county and extended for further 3 years in 2009.

Now I have booked appointment 28 days before 12th July (excluding 12th July 2012) and first date available is 14th June.

Do you think is there any problem to go on 14th June or should i rebooked for 15th June?

Thank you.

When did you get the HSMP its about 28 days from the 5 years date. I would suggest if the HSMP date is same as 12th of July then you keep this appointment but check for the 15th June to avoid any problems as its only a day difference for 28 days rule.

Good luck

I have just checked availability for 15th june and nothing available for Birmingham PEO.

Thank you for your help anyway.
