UK RC and want to visit Ireland

Post by Freddy012 » Tue May 08, 2012 9:38 am

Hi,
I have friend who is holder of UK RC. He and his wife want to visit Ireland. We all know (at least I, his wife and he himself) that by the virtue of free movement of EU Directive, he is not required to apply for Irish visa. However When we checked Irish website FAQs at http://www.embassyofireland.co.uk/home/ ... 75477#FAQ5, it clearly says family member of EU national need to have visa before travelling.

Can anyone please some advice?

You could email them and ask them to update their website in line with SI no 146/2011.

Hi I recently travelled Ireland with UK issued residence card alone as my spouse stayed in UK. No problem as no visa required. enjoy the trip!!!

I have not visited Germany but Last Year I visited Latvia as it is also a schengen country but I visited with my spouse and they wanted to be sure that we are travelling together and I think Germany follows the same regulations as others. I think It's only Ireland that recently changed its Visa regulations and does not impose the restriction of travelling together or to join spouse any more. Yes its a good idea to confirm from German embassy as you did however here's the link that may help but may be you already followed
