We had our appointment today for tier1 general+ dependent extension. We were travelling from Bristol to Sheffield.
I was alarmed yesterday when someone on this community mentioned about the industrial strike. Since we didn't get any call from the Sheffield office we decided to go for our appointment today.
We had our appointment at 10:30am. We reached the PEO at 9:40 am. The security is airport style. We were given a token number at 9:50 am and we paid our fees by 10am . Due to the industrial strike they were running short of staff. The officer who took biometric (very friendly chap) told us that out of 25 staff only 8 are working . When we submitted our document our case worker (very polite and nice guy) told us that it might take some time as they have less staff.
At 10:40 we went for our biometric. The process took hardly 10 minutes and then we were informed that our case worker will call out for our token number.
So we decided to go in and around sheffield as we thought it might take time. We were back to PEO by 11:20am and we were informed by the case worker that he is half way through our application and it should take another 1 hour but to our surprise the case worker called us back again in 20-25 minutes and handed over the approval letter.
Sheffield PEO is a very good place. At first we were hesitant as the train journey was expensive but the officers there were very nice and it was worth it.
We have got extension for 3 years and now are waiting for BRP to arrive in 5-6 working days.
