The petition is referring to the rates suggested in the consultation and not the lower rates decide upon.

The new lower rates are still ridiculous and I would urge everyone to sign the petition as it is a way to get your voice heard.
I'm assuming the petition was created BEFORE the changes were announced

The rules are fine, they are fair we actually need tougher rules, 18,000 is nothing, that is peanuts.
Well that remains your own opinion but take into your consideration that everyone's situation is different if you see £18.000 is nothing and as peanuts then you really didnt come into someone's struggles to see if it's peanuts or chocolate lol God save us from peanuts.

Well if you can't support your family we can't just through the doors open for mass immigration, that harms our country. Our country is poor already we have no jobs. Immigrants here will work 60 hours a week on £1 that harms our economy. Brother we can't go like this, sometimes its better to stay in your own country, what do you think?

Oh by the way, I am big fan of Badr Hari he is great fighter!
I can agree that immigration is big issue that harm the uk economy but the problem is here not partners of british spouse but those illegal immigrant who come enter the uk borders illegally and UKBA act without finding a serious solution to those who work anything for any penny. Indeed we can't go like this but be sure that this new migration rules will affect future of britain and i dont think british spouse will sleep and do nothing against this unjustice action which is against human rights.

What i think is justice should take a place here.

Badr Hari is a good boxer lol but i am fan of William Wallace lolz

Let's not have a war of words here .. that may turn ugly ... given the sensivity of the matter.

Let those who feel the changes are not fair write to their MP to oppose the changes or sign an e-petition to oppose.
Let those who feel the changes are fair write to their MP to support the changes or sign an e-petition to support.

Everyone is happy.

I would say whoever wants to prove that they are an idiot must immediately sign the petition.

Only idiots can petition the home secretary, and ask her not to do something which she is not planning to do in the first place.

If like greenie and asim72 you have a problem signing the above petition you can always write to your local mp with the correct proposed changes to immigration rules in July.

Here is the link to contact a local mp:

Remember to include your personal experiences to make your point. Go for it!

It's completely arbitrary. I'm earning just below the threshold (£17,000 salary) but I also volunteer on my University campus, for which I am provided with free accommodation. Because I don't pay rent, council tax etc. I actually have a much larger disposable income than my salary would indicate (I estimate that I am saving upwards of £5,000 in accommodation costs per year.)

But this isn't taken into account. My wife would be refused a visa out of hand if we had applied after the changes come into effect, even though my specific circumstances mean that I am more than capable of supporting my wife. These changes are ridiculous, which punish hard-working, young individuals like myself simply because we don't match up to this governments arbitrary standard of what constitutes an acceptable level of income.

Why are the new rules dearly beloved?
Which EU laws do the new rules break?
Which international laws do the new rules break?

Theresa May thinks it's ok for her to choose who we marry. It's our human right to choose and our right to a family life.

So many people will be affected, women, young and old.

Theresa May does not think its OK to choose who you marry. Anyone is free to marry anyone. She is just making rules about who she (rightly or wrongly) thinks should be able to settle in UK.

I being a british earning £17,500 and lucky to ve paid off mortgage on my one bedroom flat, if am correct I can't sponsor my fiancee spouse visa because am earning below £18600 according to Theresa May.She needs her head examine.

And other EU citizens could come with their spouse earning very much less, am indeed a second class citizen in my own country.

The above statement is not bigoted in any way just for comparison purpose.

British government should be wise enough to give its own citizens priority.

Yes I do agree on this point of your's that British Citizen's spouses get judged very harshly and spouse's of EEA nationals have almost a free ticket to anything.

I did write to HO in very strong words about it. I do not think my letter would change anything, but I did make a point that if rules are getting stricter then they should get stricter for spouses of EEA nationals too. I do understand though that changing EEA regs is not totally under trixie's hands, and that is why to get the immigration numbers right, family members of British citizens are having to pay a big price.

These figures are also across the board but earning 18600GBP in London is much easier compared to trying to make this sort of money in northen cities in the uk. Especially when the cost of living is considerably diffrent from north to south. Some one could be making less than the 18600gbp but having a much more disposable income in the north as cost of living accomodation etc is less. Surelly other factors should be taking in to consideration. Or do the goverment think that only people who have high paying jobs can marry people from other countries. Some people will be working none stop trying to make this.

All three major political parties are in favour of these new rules. Or at least not in any position to speak up against them. Public opinion is against immigration. Public does not want immigration from within EEA, let alone having any appetite for non-eea immigration.

I think all these efforts are a lost cause now.
