US visa and ESTA

Post by dream77boy » Thu Jun 21, 2012 3:42 pm

Hi friends

I had an Indian passport previously and had a 10 year multiple entry visa to the US (Expiring in 2015)
I have British citizenship and passport now which allows me to visa free travel subject to the usual conditions (eg no criminal history, etc)

My question is can i apply for ESTA without any issues...

Has anyone been in the same state as myself and have you got the ESTA without any issues??
Is it simple and straightforward as applying online and paying the fees (£15 for 2 years validity)?

thanks

Absolutely. You're now a British citizen, and if I'm not wrong, you're no longer an Indian citizen (as you had to give up Indian citizenship).

So, do apply to ESTA. I will do the same next week when I get my British passport, since I intend to travel to the USA in July.

ESTA

Hi thanks for your reply
on the ESTA website it says that you may apply for an ESTA if
Select this option if:
You are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country.
You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa.
Your travel is for 90 days or less.
You plan to travel to the United States for business or pleasure.

now when I held an Indian passport, I had a 10 year multiple entry visa but since now I have surrendered the indian passport and given up the citizenship since I am a British citizen now, I am now technically speaking in possession of a visitors visa as the passport in which it was stamped is not cancelled...

so my question is

has anyone been in a similar situation and applied for ESTA and got approved??
