Cash Deposit for Self Employment

Post by Jibo » Sat Jun 23, 2012 12:32 pm

Hi Gurus

I'll be going for my tier 1 general extension very soon but needs a clarification

For my self employment, i sometimes get paid in cash and i make the payment straight to my bank account or my clients sometimes just make the payment straight into the account which means money going into the account shows as deposit and not counter transfer which is what comes up when money is transferred from another bank account

My Question is if this is going to be a problem with CW during extension?

Pls advice

NB There is invoice for all services rendered

A long as the money is going into your bank account and you have issued invoices in that amount, I can't see this being a problem.

As long as you have invoices and other documents to prove that it is from your self employment income any mode of payment to your account should not matter . Good luck .

Do sole trader invoices need to be professionally printed?

Invoices are not considered as evidence of earnings by the UKBA so your question is, literally, irrelevant to immigration discussions. Your accountant can prepare invoice explanations (if you choose to provide these as evidence rather than the other items that are also suggested) and you should discuss this matter with him.

If you have multiple issues with your application it would be better to start a thread and keep all your questions in one convenient location for further reference.

I am afraid Lucapooka, invoices are required by UKBA. Below is what Appendix A of chaper 6A says:

(x) If the applicant provides a combination of bank statements and a letter or invoice summary from his accountant, he must also provide any invoices generated during the period for which earnings are being claimed.

I am fully aware of that but the route must go via the accountant. Showing actual invoices to the UKBA is quite rare for T1 (gen) migrants and if, indeed, he wishes to do this, he needs to discuss the format with his accountant, as he will know what format is acceptable to HMRC for his business model. If HMRC are happy with the format, the accountant can issue explanations of these. He's approaching the problem from the wrong direction and your assertion that I am incorrect is not really helping the matter. Thanks.

And all of this is taking place in a thread that is two years old and was discussing a completely different subject!
