unique circumstances

Post by kapilc » Sun Jun 24, 2012 4:00 pm

Hi,

I obtained my Tier 1 (General) visa in September 2008 but entered UK in January 2009 (about 4 months later). Based on the 5 years continuous residence rule for ILR, I understand that I will have to apply for a further extension in September 2013 as I will only be eligible for ILR in January 2014. My queries are as follows:
- For how long will my Tier 1 General visa be extended when I apply in September 2013. Will it be for another 2 years or just until January 2014 (when I become eligible for ILR)?
- I started working in UK in July 2010, and remained unemployed from January 2009 to June 2010. I bought a house in UK in July 2009 and UK was always by main base. And during the period of unemployment I have been out of UK on family visits to India on 2 occassions for about 40 days each. Will this affect my ILR application?

Any advice and help would be really appreciated

thanks
