Hi could some one please tell me if ehic card from home country is accepted as insurance for eu route application in ireland as it is in some other eu countries?

No, it has to be a comprehensive insurance from ireland. Please note that under the EUTR the comprehensive medical insurance has to cover the applicant, the spouse and the children, if any.
