Entry Clearance

Post by sujyo » Mon Aug 06, 2012 10:10 pm

I had a workpermit initially and came in Uk on Aug 2008. After that I got workeprmit renewed till July 2010. I got shifted to tier 1 general on 7th Oct 2009.

I went back to India in March 2010 and again came back to Uk on Feb 2012. What should be my Date of entry clearance. can anyone pl advice.

The date of your entry clearance is the date of issue on the visa you used to enter in Aug 2008. You have said the date you entered the UK but you have not said when that EC was issued.

D3. What date was the entry clearance or visa issued?

which should not be confused with the other question:

D10. When did the applicant arrive in the United Kingdom?

Confused further ....

Is EC date the the first Visa Issued date on the workpermit?Or is it the Visa issued date for the tier 1 general.

It's the valid from date on your visa vignette that was inserted in your passport.

FYI, Entry Clearance only applies to applicants applying in their home country. Therefore the answer to your question is, it's the "valid from" date on the Work Permit Visa vignette in your passport.

Note you would have been granted "leave to remain" (not EC) when you switched immigration categories from Work Permit to Tier 1 G in 2009.

Hi cs95tdg,

In the dependant's application.

K1. Have you previously been granted leave as the dependant of the main applicant?

"granted leave" does it mean entry clearance or "leave to remain" ??

I think only the first application is referred to as entry clearance and after that all extension applications are referred to as leave to remain (except for ILR) ? IS this correct ?

EC is only relevant if applying for a visa to enter the UK. You would do this while you are resident in your home country. Once you have entered the UK, if you want to extend your visa, what you apply for is "Leave to Remain".

Hi cs95tdg

Thanks for clarifying. But in ukba site they also refer to terms
like "leave to enter". Is this same as entry clearance ???

Could you please clarify whether to answer YES or NO
for the below question. It just mentions "granted leave" so what is it
"granted leave to enter" or "granted leave to remain" ?

Its for a dependant and applying for 1st extension.

K1. Have you previously been granted leave as the dependant of the main applicant?

Thank you.
