Called for Interview after Submitting Fiancée Visa

Post by seanf » Thu Aug 09, 2012 3:59 pm

My Fiancée submitted a Fiancée Visa application in China two months ago so that we can get Married in the UK and begin the settlement process. She received a phone call today asking her to attend an interview, but was not given any specific information about why this has been requested. Can anyone please advise:

- If this is standard procedure or if we should be concerned that our application alone was not enough for them to issue the Visa?

- What she is likely to be questioned about? For example, will they just want to confirm the details in the application or will they be wanting additional information?

- Are there any tips or information that we should know?

Thank you so much

Frankly, interviews are rare. The must have some questions about her application that are not insurmountable if she can offer clarification, otherwise they could have simply refused the visa. So, it's not necessarily bad news.

As to the nature of the problem, or what questions might be asked, that is impossible to predict as we don't know the nature of the enquiry.

Thank you Lucapooka. It is very, very worrying but it seems there is little we can do other than wait and keep hoping

It's not worrying if your circumstances are genuine. I can tell you that they don't want to know about money or accommodation as a failure of the requirement in this capacity would be a refusal rather than an interview. The probably want to know about the relationship; past, present and future.

I keep telling myself that, but it's still very difficult. My Fiancée and I have been separate for the last two months whilst awaiting the result of our application and the thought of rejection at this stage is terrifying. Anyway, I am just feeling sorry for myself at the moment. Thank you again for your advice Lucapooka

I wanted to come back and update this thread for anybody that may be in the same situation. My Fiancée attended her interview in Beijing and met with a very nice Officer who spent about twenty minutes asking questions about the history of our relationship and our plans for the future. It was quite informal and light and certainly not a "grilling". The Visa was approved one week after the interview and I am delighted to currently be in a hotel near Heathrow Airport with my Love by my side

Sean :-)
