New TB screening requirement?

Post by asiyaislam » Tue Aug 14, 2012 3:43 pm

Hello all,

My boyfriend is applying for his Tier 4 student visa from India. I found out that the UKBA is gradually rolling out pre-TB screening for visa applications for leave to remain for more than 6 months - http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... ia-tb-test.

In the timetable for rolling out this requirement, they say -

There will be a gradual rollout of pre-entry TB screening requirements in India, beginning with UK settlement visa applications from 16 August 2012.

The screening requirement will be extended to applications for work visas (Tiers 1, 2 and 5 of the points-based system) from 10 September 2012 and student visas (Tier 4) from 1 November 2012.

If you want to travel to the UK for longer than 6 months you must be screened and obtain a certificate from an approved clinic to show that you are free of TB before you make a UK visa application in the categories listed above. The UK Border Agency has set up a wide network of approved clinicians in India.

Can anyone confirm that pre-TB screening will be required only for students applying after 1 November?

Thanks!
Asiya

yes sep intake students do not require a mandatory TB test from UKBA approved clinics, but it is safe to have a report from your local physician that you are free from TB.Even they might check you at the airport in UK for TB,if it is POSITIVE you will be sent back home.
