Transit on UK's VISIT VISA ?

Post by ZINC » Wed Nov 08, 2006 11:50 am

Hi ,

I am Pakistani national , and currently I am holding Ireland's ICT professional visa and I also have UK's multiple Visit visa which is expiring on 21 Jan 07 . At a moment I am in Pakistan , I want to extend my departure date , and I have consult my relevant air travelleing agency and they told me next flight available to me is only on 21 Jan 07 .

In my return route I have to get my flight to Dublin from London airport ,

Now my question is can I get transit on the basis of my UK's Visit visa ? ( which is expiring on same day on which I have flight from Lahore ,Pakistan :? . I already have got two transits from UK , one on my Ireland's CAT D visa and one on UK's DATV transit visa )

I will arrive at UK on 22 Jan 07 , so is it possible that I could get relaxtion of one more day on my uk visa ?

Thanks,

ZINC

In order to fly from London to Dublin, you have to go through UK immigration control and leave the airside area of the airport. Therefore a normal UK transit visa is no good because this does not allow you to leave the airside area of the airport. You would have to obtain a UK tourist visit visa.

Unfortunately because your current UK vist visa will have expired by the time you land in the UK you will not be allowed into the UK. In fact I doubt you will even be allowed onto the airplane by the check-in staff in Pakistan.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
