What does expiry date on ILR biometric card mean ?

What does expiry date on ILR biometric card mean ?

Hi,

None of my friends who got their ILRs a few months ago have an expiry date on it. They have the ILR stampled on their passports. However, the other friends who got their ILRs recently have an expiry date after 10 years. I thought ILR was nothing but permanent residence. If so why the expiry date ?

You will have to renew your BRP card by that date just like you would renew your driving license. You will just have to pay a small renewal fee if you havent got a british passport by then.
