Registration of a child born in Ireland.

Post by frei » Fri Oct 26, 2012 2:58 pm

Hi guys, does anyone knows the status of the child of a British citizen born in Ireland, I know the child would be automatically Irish by birth, but am not sure if it's the same for the UK, would the child be British through his own right, or he would be considered British by descent?

I have emailed the nationality department of the UKBA, but am yet to get a reply for over 2 months.

please kindly post your views.

More information is needed.

It would be better to post this question on the British forum, but you need to say where the British parent was born, as this is required to answer the question.

Thank you Brigid, the mother is a naturalized British citizen

I think British by descent, as the parent was not born in the UK. Not sure, though. You should ask on the British page.
