ILR APPROVED SOLIHULL: HSMP/TIER 1 LTD COMPANY

Post by Sphinxed » Sat Nov 03, 2012 1:15 pm

To God be all the glory, thanks be to Jesus .

After five challenging years, finally got ILR approved at Solihull. Has it been worth it? well, time will still tell.

Details:

HSMP - Tier 1 - ILR using Limited company.

Process at Solihull was best I've experienced so far ( have been to Liverpool and Sheffield before for various other applications). Application at Solihull was decided in less than 10 minutes. Stayed on queue for less than 15 minutes. Received letter in less than 90 minutes. Got Biometric card 3 days later!

Documents submitted -

I'm sole director paying myself small salary and dividend. Pay NI only on salary.
  • Payslips for 8 months showing dividend paid
    Dividend Voucher for 8 months
Personal Bank statements covering the period
Letter from "approved" accountant stating I'm sole 100% director with Turnover amount and Gross profit and total amount being claimed i.e. Dividend plus Salary.
    ACCA Certificate of Accountant
Spreadsheet detailing amount and dates into personal bank statements to assist Case worker
    passport
After presenting all the above, CW requested letter from HMRC. What she wanted was my company's last year's corporation tax letter. And I gave it to her.
CW also requested Company's registration certificate. And I also gave it to her.

Also, just in case of any issues, I had the following with me but was not requested by the CW.
  • Business bank statements
Contract letters from my IT contracts
End of year report of company
    Invoices to clients
Spreadsheet detailing payment into Business bank account
I ensured I had all copies of above documents. So as I was giving CW the originals, I was also providing the photocopies. This hastened the process and was appreciated by CW. Anyway, it's one of the rules in application form.

I pray success for all others .

The key is information and planning ahead. Hence, I'm grateful to this forum, those who came up with the idea, the moderators and all users that have shared their various experiences. it has been immensely useful.

Once again, wishing you all the best and a big shout out to all my 9ja folks!

Thanks both.

Hi Gaboon,

I believe since your company is newly registered without having to complete a full financial year, you will not have any HMRC corporation Tax due - apparently, no document in that regard.

In your case, I will suggest the more documents - the better.

Hence, It will be advisable you do the following :
  • Ensure your "certified" accountant explicitly state that in his/her letter.
Take your company's registration certificate with you.
Take the Companies House welcome letter stating all the important dates e..g Due date of your company's 1st Corporation Tax etc
Take all HMRC (welcome) documents with regards to your company including all HMRC document reflecting you are now an employee of your company etc
Any HMRC document that relates to your company and you.
I'm sure you ( or your accountant) should be able to easily provide these documents.

Meanwhile, be prepared (just in case) the CW asks you what you were doing (with proof) before you registered your company and started earning income/dividends from your company.

Best wishes.

ILR Appointment on 16th Jan, Please help (Self Employed)

Post by soniauk » Thu Jan 10, 2013 1:07 am

Dear All,

In my case I haven't paid salary into my account ,though i have dividends paid in.I will be claiming points on my dividends paid. However I have already paid NI to HMRC. Do i need to share this with the Case Worker?

The dividend transfers from my business account were termed as "business expenses". Does this look alarming??
Please share your views if somebody has been in such a situation as my appointment is due in the coming week on 16th.
Many thanks in advance.
