BC Application for spouse

Post by jk8976 » Sun Nov 11, 2012 7:25 pm

Hi,
My wife will become eligible for the BC immediately after I become a BC - ILR + 3 years residence + spouse of a BC.
When exactly can she apply for the naturalisation - immediately after my citizenship ceremony of after I receive my British passport?
Thanks.

I just would like to reconfirm this because the form clearly says `Passport of the British Citizen` - not citizenship certificate.

I would appreciate a reconfirmation. Thank you in advance.

AFAIK a British citizen may decide to live all its life in the UK, without a single travel abroad, and hence never request and never hold a passport.

If you check the guide AN, you will see naturalisation certificate is accepted.

There is a discrepancy in the information provided at two places:

1. The guide_an provides the same information as you have mentioned with regards to the naturalisation certificate:
"The applicant’s husband’s, wife’s or civil partner’s passport or birth certificate or Naturalisation/registration certificate"

2. The UKBA website http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/briti ... documents/
does not state the naturalisation certificate: :
Applications on the basis of marriage or civil partnership to a British citizen

You should provide:

your partner's passport or birth certificate; and
your marriage or civil partnership certificate.

In this case, does the guide_an supersede the information provided on the website?

Hi
I recently Applied BC for my Wife, but just realised that i forgot to send my Citizenship certificate and our Marriage certificate (marriage not held in UK)

Can anyone please suggest me what to do, is there any way to send supporting documents separately?

Your answer will be highly appreciated

Thanks
