B.Sc Computer Science,Academic or professional qualification

Post by Abid » Sat Dec 02, 2006 8:26 am

I am from Pakistan. I have 2 questions.

1. I have done 2 year B.Sc in Computer Science and 2 Year M.Sc in Software Engineering. Does it come under Academic Qualification? Do I have to get it verified it by NARIC?

2. As UK's B.Sc equaling to Pakistan's M.Sc, Do I have to get letter (for English) from both universities (Will that serve the purpose) or I have to do IELTS?

Thanks

Dear Abid,

Software Engineering and Professional Engineering are two different things. You can say BE from NED University is a professional degree in Engineering which is 4 years degree (BE 4 years equal to British Bachelor)but M.Sc. in Software Engnieering is not a professional degree, its pure educational degree where you have learn that how to make software.

Anyway your total education is 16 years so you can suppose yourself to British Bachelor (Ordinary) degree standard. Keep one thing in mind that 16 Pakistani classes are equal to British Bachelor.

Can you inform me where you did your Master?

Regarding English language requirement, I suggest you IELTS (General). IELTS General will help you in many ways. First IELTS is required by almost every country where they are offering immigration i.e. Canada, Australia, NZ etc. Second it will help you in HSMP approval too.

I think HSMP team will refuse every such case where letter from college/university will be provided. It will be easy for them to refuse such case on this ground. IELTS is own UK language authority (Cambridge) and they will always prefer to look IELTS test report with HSMP documents.

Be sure that always set your target to minimum 6 band in IELTS but 7 will be excelent.

I think HSMP approval chance with University letter is too low which may require verification from University and on the other side every IELTS test report has certain verifcation code which can be verified UK locally Cambridge anytime.

If we are going to pay 315 pounds (approx Pak Rs.35,000) then why we don't take IELTS for just Pak Rs.8,300 in order to put ourself on save side. Think!
