The spouse visa form doesn't actually have any provision for more than 1 salaried employment. You can use cash-savings and other forms of income but it doesn't specifically say the threshold can be met by more than 1 salaried employment nor does it have the room on the form to put in another or subsequent jobs.

When applying for a visa, theory or one's belief is not good enough. You must know exactly what the rules are and how they will interpret everything.

So my question is does anyone have actual experience of getting a successful visa when they used 2 or more salaries combined to meet the threshold?

Thanks
Stuart

ok i have been looking at the forms and in the financial appendix it seems when you have two jobs what you are supposed to do is :

following this example lets say you have one job at £18000 and have been employed for the last six months you would fill in the form under category a as normal then when you get to 3.21 if you read the box above it says if you have other employment provide its detial and evidence in part 5 of the application

so you would then go to part 5 which is additonal information section and then detial your second job and as evidence provide your wage slips and bank statements for the period which again would be a minimum of 6 motnhs rather than detialing 12 months prior to application.

This seems to be my understanding can other members looks at this and tell me if this right

I think you're right. I missed this.

'If your sponsor has or had more than one previous/other job, you must provide full details for each job held at Part 5. You
must also submit the specified evidence for each job detailed with your application'

Also 3.14 to 3.20 talks about previous/other employment and use the past tense 'was/had' but the notes say

'3.17 On what date did your sponsor finish this employment?
Please tell us in DD/MM/YYYY format the date that your sponsor
finished their previous/other employment. Leave blank if your
sponsor is still in this employment'

So I think you've solved it k451m. Being the cautious type I'd love to know if anyone has been successful using 2 jobs?

If he has a salaried job now in the UK I think you have to use Category A because that's the correct answer to the question 'Is your sponsor currently employed in the UK?'

Then if you can answer 'yes' to 3.12 you are directed to 3.21. The note above that states you should include other jobs in Part 5.

So that is how I would complete the form if I had 2 current jobs held for the last 6 months and earning the same salary for those 6 months.

But still it would be helpful to hear from someone who has applied with 2 jobs successfully. ANYONE?

Two jobs to make up the financial requirement

Post by RachelF » Wed Nov 28, 2012 10:47 pm

Hi,

I am too thinking about applying with two jobs, my salary is only going to be £15,700 so I need to make up the rest.

I'm worried that the PT work I will be able to get will be paid by hour, not by salary. An immigration consultant on another forum said that should be fine as long as the hours are stated in the contract, but does anyone have any thoughts?

Also, I'm coming back to Chile for our wedding in March so would be taking a bit of a holiday from both jobs. I imagine my main salaried job would be fine as they will pay me holidays but it might get complicated for my PT job. If I have low income one month does that mean they will take that income over the full 6 months period?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Rachel

I found this recently which after careful reading makes things a lot clearer for me. They state employment can be permanent, temporary, full or part-time. In any case they will want to see your contract. I am guessing a zero-hours contract will not suffice and in any event, the employer has to confirm in writing what the annual salary is and noone will do that on a zero-hours contract. So as long as both your jobs have contracts which state the annual salary, you should be fine. It does state somewhere in this document or on the notes to the form that the lowest monthly earnings will be used to calculate the annual so that might be a problem for you if you're taking unpaid leave. Hopefully others may clarify this for you.
