Schengen Visa and Carte de Sejour

Hello,
I'm a Pakistani national,married to a British national.
Me and my wife are living in China at the moment, we are planning to move to France.
As i need a visa to enter France , i wana know if i should apply for a Schengen Visa or Long stay visa in order to get Carte De Sejour in France?
Also is there any requirement to submit a work contract in order to get a visa?
Could anyone help on this please.

Does not matter, a specific type of visa or its duration (or even if you have a visa or not) is not a prerequisite to exercise your treaty rights along with your spouse. See http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewto ... ht=#516576

Even if you enter the country by crossing the border illegally it should not affect your residency rights.

Basically you need to get a simple Schengen visa.
