Going abroad while applying for resident card

Hi everyone,

I'm a EEA and my wife is a non-EEA. She had the right to live in the UK as the partner of an EEA. But she's been stolen her resident card so she has to apply again.

At the same time, she needs to travel abroad very soon. Is there any way to go abroad and come back while in the process of resident card application? I heard about a special permission given in case of emergency.

Is she a visa national? (i.e. does her nationality require a visa to visit the UK?).

Yes she's Peruvian so she does need a visa to visit the UK.

In which case she may well have a problem getting on the plane to come back from where ever she has been. The airline will not carry her.

Yes this is normally the case. But my question was about a permission given in special circumstances to somebody who's in the process of application.

There is no special permission for emergencies (I don't think your case classifies as emergency any way). She will need to apply for a EEA Family Permit from Peru (or wherever she will be) before returning.
