What constitutes valid grounds to expedite T1 xtension

Post by genuflexion » Thu Dec 13, 2012 4:44 pm

Dear All,

We are all well aware of the processing timelines for T1 (extension). It has gone way beyond 3 months (even in my case).

Basically, by virtue of this, I would like to discuss as to what constitutes valid grounds for expediting the application, I have given below 5 scenarios, please comment;

(1)- If an applicant is buying a house and on closing the deal usually the bank wants to see the passport! will this be compelling? Or

(2)- Applicants could be searching for new employment and some recruitment agencies would not consider them and forward their resumes over to the client purely because they are not in possession of their passports? will this be compelling? Or

(3)- If an applicant has been offered a job and HR wants to inspect the passport? will this be compelling? Or

(4)- There could be an applicant who wishes to travel to attend his brother in law's engagement? will this be compelling? Or

(5)- There could be an applicant that needs urgent medical attention and cannot rely upon NHS to be seen 6 months later by the Specialist and therefore he/she is confused yet helpless to make any decision to fly out of UK? will this be compelling?

Thanks very much in advance

Sadly, I don't think any of your scenarios are valid grounds for speeding up an application.

1. Buying a house at the time of a visa extension is the applicants choice and something that could have been delayed or planned differently.
2. Find recruitment agents that don't require this. Also, until your visa is actually approved, you may not have the right to work here after the decision is made.
3. HR would need proof that you are eligible to work, they would need to contact UKBA.
4. No?!?! Its not life or death.
5. In a medical emergencies, the NHS will see you immediately. I cannot think of any circumstance where it would be better to travel out of the UK for medical treatment...
