Can we travel with UKBA letter but no Biometric card?

Hi all,

My partner has been granted her leave to remain under the unmarried partner visa.

We've been sent her passport back and a letter clearly stating she has been granted the visa and that her biometric card is currently being endorsed with the additional 30 months.

Does anyone know if we can travel with just the letter? We have a Christmas trip to Bruge planned but don't know if she will have problems getting back in to the country with just the letter and her passport.

We are trying to gather some data and it would be great to have your details, if you applied from inside the UK. If you could tell us the date you applied, received your acknowledgement letter, received your biometric invitation, submitted your biometrics and when you heard the good news and got your passport back. Also your nationality and any other details you think would be worth mentioning.
