Hi,

One of my friends is in the UK since last
two and half years on Tier 2 ICT visa. One company
is offering him Tier 2 General visa from
UK itself.

If he starts working on Tier 2 General visa,
when will he be eligible to apply for ILR?
He needs to spend 5 yrs after T2 General visa or 2.5 yrs?

If your friend applied for his T2 ICT visa after 5 April 2010 then the 5 year qualifying period for ILR will only start from the time he gets his new T2G leave.
