Uk family permit for primary carer of a minor EEA national?

Post by ukfamilypermit » Tue Jan 01, 2013 6:24 am

Our daughter is Irish and our are Thai. Does anybody know if we are eligible for applying for the UK family permit as the parents of a minor EEA national after the UK Government has announced changes to the Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2006 which will come into force from the 16th July 2012?

Many thanks!

They don't issue family permit to the primary carer of a minor EU national.

If you are currently in Ireland you should consider staying in Ireland, as if you leave Ireland it may be difficult to return. Once you are in Ireland 5 years you can apply for Irish citizenship. Once you get Irish passports, you can go to the UK.

You may qualify for an EEA family permit, but you will need to show that you have sufficient funds for your child and yourself not to be a burden on the United Kingdom's resource, and that there is Comprehensive Sickness Insurance for your whole family.

Yes,now you can apply for an EEA family permit if you’re the main carer of a financially self-sufficient child who is an EEA national. See https://www.gov.uk/family-permit

What if one of the parents is currently staying in the UK but is not himself British Citizen but EEA national and primary Carer is a National from other Non-EEA country and residing there with EEA minor.
