I recently got wed to a Pakistani girl in Pakistan and am just wondering does anyone know if their is much to provide for the application and really roughly how long can we be expected to wait as I have seen many post's here that is making me think that it's one whole waiting game?

Your spouse can join you in Northern Ireland, if you are willing to live there?
She needs a passport and her marriage cert (both the original and a translation).
She would then be joining her Irish citizen spouse who would be exercising his rights in a country other than Ireland (Northern Ireland is in the UK).
Simply find her accommodation just over the border in Northern Ireland, join yourself up to study something in Northern Ireland and continue to work in the Republic.
Once she gives birth to your child, her right to live in the Republic of Ireland is guaranteed, as your child takes Irish citizenship from his/her citizen father. She can then live with her Irish citizen child in the Republic of Ireland.

Your spouse can apply for a Join Spouse visa online at www.inis.gov.au . The best advice is to provide as much documentary evidence of your relationship history before marriage as possible - you must prove that you had several face to face meetings prior to marriage. Alternatively, if it was an arranged marriage by your families you should provide evidence of this (letter from senior family members, etc).
You must also provide the best possible evidence of your financial situation in Ireland, bank statements, payslips tax documents, lease or mortgage, etc.
Good luck. These applications can be tricky but the most important thing os to provide a large amount of supporting documentation and keep a copy of everything submitted.
