Extension of leave using form T2(W)

Hello there,

I am working in the UK under tier2 general visa and my current stay expires on may 2013. I have to extend my visa for another 6 months before apply for settlement, when I started looking at the UKBA website for extension of tier 2 I came across Extension of leave using form T2(W) as I lived under work permit around 1 1/2 years I am eligible to apply under this scheme.

Could anybody explain me the procedure?

what is the time scale?
