Tier 1 Ext - Initial application employer out of business

Post by Konaine » Mon Jan 21, 2013 3:28 pm

Hi All,

I have my T1 Gen extension next month and i have a few questions that i am confused about. I am going to apply at the PEO as postal waiting time is too long. The question I have is that when I made my initial application and the company i worked for at the time, the employer i used has now gone out of business and now the company is closed.

Is that going to be a problem?

Thanks,

No, not if the paperwork they provided you is obvious and reliable and does not need any background checks - which, in any case, is not something that will be done at the PEO.

They did'nt provide me any paper work because i had left way before the company closed and joined another company with which i am right now and will apply for extension.

Thanks very much for replying.

But as per policy they need to give you P-45 if you have left the company. Not sure how you have not got that.

How long ago was this? If you are claiming income from sources other than the company that is no longer in business, that fact will not be relevant to your application.

I showed income from 2 companies for my initial application. I left this company half way and joined another company. used a combined income from both of these companies for my initial T1 gen application.

Now 2 years later. I am employed by a different employer and will be showing my income from this single employement.

Thanks very much for responding.

So, clearly irrelevant to any new application. Your income window of 15 months would not include any income from this entity. That's all that matters.
