Can a Beneficary named in a Will get ILR?

Post by rs84 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 10:10 pm

Hi,
This is my first post so apologies if this is in the wrong forum. As stated above, can a beneficiary who lives abroad named in a Will get ILR if UK property and assets have been left solely to them?

Can you please explain further? With all due respect, I wasn't looking for a one word answer.

There is no category in the rules for people who own property in the UK to obtain leave on that basis, its as simple as that.

So the beneficiary cannot benefit under the will?

He or she can benefit from owning a property in the UK which could be used to generate rental income, be sold or used as a holiday home for example but owning a property here will not bring with it an entitlement to live in the UK.

The beneficiary could sell the property and use the funds to invest in a UK based business and come to live in the UK on a business visa perhaps.
Once well establish they could then go onto another category visa perhaps
