CTC and Working tax Credit and Child Benefit

Me an my wife joined work in UK on June 2006 . We have come from India and are on work permits . We are going to have a baby here in Jan 2007. Can you please let us know whether we can apply for Child Benefit and CTC and WTC . Also we have started worked in JUne 2006 so while filling up hte forms we will not be able to give any income for the last tax year . Please advice.

As work permit holders, you do not generally have recourse to public funds. For immigration purposes, public funds include child benefit, working tax credit and child tax credit.

As soon as you have “settled” status in the UK, you can apply for these benefits.
