in the hsmp form thrs a Q15 - Any previous home office number ?
What should one write in this ??

if this is the first time you apply, leave it blank or fill in with 'N/A'

hi...the HO has ways to detect whether it is a 1st or 2nd application...in ur case if you submit it w/o the old ref no., HO can trace back the 1st appli and the 2bd one will have as ref number...your old ref no. with "-2" ...meaning 2nd application

this happened in my case...do not worry about the old HO ref number. :)

Is it harm if they find that this is our second application?
coz, even i dont want to specify the old ref no.

either way they will find out, but it shouldnt matter.
There is nothing wrong with applying a 2nd time. One would assume you now have extra documentation to cover the reasons you failed first time.

there is nothing to worry as they (HO) review the application as it is presented and they do not refer to the old one...to check the new one...

Markie is right,
HO will always get to know your old ref number by using your surname and date of birth, this I believe is the first step taken before entering your information into the database.
In my case, i got exactly thesame ref number as my first application.

let them find by my surname or age but still i dont want to reveal that i'm not a fresh applicant.Now will this give them a bad impact..something suspicious or they will just take it easy...ne idea ??

even if you do not reveal to them in your appli...it will come up from their system...your name and that you have already applied previously. Do not despair on this... even if you failed the 1st time, the HO will always consider the latest appli with no reference what;s so ever to the previous one... do not worry about this...
just make sure that you have learned the deficiencies you've made previously in order to fortify your second application....
