Notary Copy of Passport

Post by ashishtalreja » Tue Jan 09, 2007 12:12 pm

Hi,

I have submitted Notarised copy of personal details page of passport as proof of Age. I had got the notarization done from local notary in Mumbai. Is it required to get notary done from authorities like embassy etc?

Please suggest.

Thanks in anticipation!

nothing to worry.. u have done the right thing. HO will accept this.

Problem comes with translation where document is in regional language... as for as the document/passport is in English just notary attestation is ok.

Hi Ashish/Rizwan,

The notarisation can be done only from the UK Deputy High Commission Affifliated Notary Only , if you are getting it done from outside of UK.
I had the same problem, I contacted Deputy High Commission of UK in mumbai directly and learned that it has to be done from some specific notaries only.

But if you are in UK, you can get this done from any Notary Public. This is because HO can call them verify at any givem time which is not the case when applying from outside the UK.

Hope this would help.

Hello Ashish,

The notary person should be verifiable by HO (see glossary section of HSMP guidance).
In my view check for the notary person at :
Ministry of Law & Justice Government of India website

Hi,

I have got my document notarized from a London Based Notary so I didn;t need the Mumbai based notary.

I guess there are some agents in mumabi who can get work done for you.

No where in the HSMP Guidelines does it say that we have to get the notary done through the list of notaries. It only says that if we are unable to provide either Birth cert or driving license we should submit a notarised copy of Passport. Where does it say that it should be from the List. Please advice .....

Thanks,
President.

Hi President.

I you call and check with Home Office people you will learn that notarisation should be done by notary from where HO can easily verify the details.
