180 day rule. Too risky to take it for granted as of now???

Post by newbie_2013 » Fri Mar 01, 2013 9:44 pm

Hi all

Just a quick thought. So a 180 day/year out of the UK is standard after the new rules in december'12. I have been out of the UK for around 85 days now and I am booking a holiday for another 3 weeks away from the UK very soon. So this will add up to 85+21 days = 106 days altogether. Is it too stupid to think that the rules might change again in the future and UKBA will go back to the 90 day/year rule again which will jeopardise my chances of an ILR?

I just dont want to risk it. What are your thoughts on this?!?

kind regards

Two things:-

Firstly when are you planning to apply for ILR?

Secondly your guess will be as good as ours in reference to the change of rules In future.

Doubt the absence rule will revert back to 90 day. So you should be fine but again there is no guarantee

By making it 180 days in a year they have added some consistency as it applies to all categories now so it isn't likely to change.

And any changes now will only happen after a yr so you shld be fine.
Thanks!
