12 months 13 income.. is this ok ?

Hi All

my tier 1 visa expires on 20 April 13, i am planning to send the renewal by post around 20th March.
I was in a permanent position till June 12 and after that I switched to a contract role and take dividends from my limited company.

My question is - for calculating 12 months period I want to do it from 25/Jan/12 to 24/Jan/13.
This period will include salary for January 12 which was credited on 27/Jan/12 and the dividend that i took on 20//Jan/13

is this ok ? m confused because the salary that i got in January 12 was for the whole month of Jan but my 12 months period started 25 Jan 12.. ?
